I thought Edgar was quite good, but really, Penn looked awful today. Just awful.

Not taking anything away from Edgar though, who was clearly in excellent condition, fully prepared to stick to a disciplined fight plan and grind out a full 25 minute performance. He was 100% ready for his title shot and you can't knock a guy who was ready to pounce on the opportunity given to him.

And yeah, Silva obviously could have finished that fight at any moment. I'm not sure what he was trying to do. He shouldn't be allowed to fight at 185 anymore though. I'd like to see him try that **** against Jon Jones.
All of this.

I could have seen the Penn/Edgar fight go either way and not really had that much of a complaint. TBH, when I heard the 50-45 score I just assumed the judges gave Penn the champions bump and gave it to him. Of course, the 50-45 score is a complete and utter joke but I think everyone who watched the fight knew that anyway. I just hope they go KenFlo/Edgar and Penn/Maynard instead of giving Penn the instant rematch. I don't think he did enough to deserve a rematch right away.

Like everyone else, I just have no idea what goes through Silva's head. It's like he knows he's the best fighter in the world and is so ****ing bored. They need to stop making him fight at 185 and either have him fight GSP at a catchweight or move up to 205 permanently.

Just read the Sherdog PBP. Really bad. Thought Edgar won it fairly convincingly.

White's tantrums are so, so pathetic and ultimately bad for the sport imo.

White looks like he's gonna cry. Sits down and talks very frankly about the situation.

"During the second round, I was already thinking, 'What am I gonna say to the media after this fight?'"

Yeah, Penn looked so bad. Still, the 50-45 is a joke, he effectively countered for a good portion of the fight. He consistently found a home for his jab too. I think 48-47 either way is fair, dunno what that judge was watching.

I think Edgar definitely won the last three rounds.

The Dana quotes are so good

"This is the first time I refused to go into the cage and present the belt. I just handed it to his manager in the 4th round and said 'You put it on him. I'm not doing it.'"

Ed Soares was clearly covering for him in the post fight interview imo. I doubt he said any of that stuff about how sorry he was, he didn't seem sorry in the post-fight interviews to the press.

Probably true, but he's one of the few personalities out there in a role like his and he's honest and excited so I still don't mind them.

I agree with this but tonights post-fight interview was especially bad.

Hmm this is interesting I didn't even think about this. Shows my naivete.

I actually don't think his presser tonight was bad? I thought Geddy was referring to his twitter page which is pretty unprofessional and embarrassing.

What in particular in his interview don't you like?

Side note about the Penn/Edgar scoring. After round 3, Edgar's corner tells him it's probably 2-1 (down) and he needs these two rounds.

Well he definitely won the last two.

He just seemed genuinely way too depressed and bitchy about the Silva 'embrassment'.

Not that I mind because apparently he's going to make it up to the fans but I think he said embrassment one too many times. As lame as it is Silva can really win anyway he feels like. If he wants to go the distance by half-assing it...

Oh yeah, walking out on the fight seems terrible too.

Haven't watched it a 2nd time but I thought at the time he was saying he was 2-1 +.

Dana is awesom. He says the things that all of the fans are thinking and doesn't try to hide ****. The day he doesn't want to do this anymore is the day the UFC gets a lot worse.

It was an embarrassment. What would you have preferred he said?

Wonder what they do with Anderson now. Punishment last time was to throw him in at LHW versus the company man(Griffin) and rough him up a little. That failed spectacularly.

Think he's just trying to make it abundantly clear whose side he's on.

Chael Sonnen on UFC 112.

Quote:
"There's people out there that need (to be) beaten up – he's one of them. And I have a moral obligation to society to beat him up."

This is either awesome or a deathwish. Not sure yet. Or maybe he realizes that if he "disrespects" Silva like Maia did that means Silva will just run away from him.

He's probably not. But if they wait until he's ready then he wins too easily.
