I remember last season there was a match where América had an attendance of 25k, then had a free training session a couple days later and 45k showed up. My takeaway was that Mexicans wouldn't (or couldn't) afford to shell out the 200 pesos ($10) for a cheap seat, but would show up in #s if it was something free. Clearly for the big events though, there is a ton of demand. Estadio BBVA is pretty big, but I arrived in Monterrey this afternoon and everyone is rocking their jerseys a day ahead of the match. I'm pretty amped for tomorrow night, the atmosphere should be ridiculous.

Arrived a bit early to BBC’s most beautiful sports arena in the world. I said I’d make the trip if los Rayados hosted leg 2 so here I am. Stadium is gorgeous. Super amped, hoping for an early Gignac goal for maximum tension.

The roar after Rayados PK goal was deafening. It was cool to see Tigres get back in it with Gignac's golazo. Stadium was 95% Rayados, but the Tigres corner was pretty vocal for a little while.



I think I'm gonna head to the Tigres-Chivas match this weekend so I knock another Mexican stadium off the list. I'd like to eventually see them all. Atmosphere obviously won't be anything like last night, but Tigres always draw pretty well and it's against Chivas.

What can I say? Montreal Impact is a well respected club here and their supporters are treated like kings.

One mildly interesting thing is that every time in Mexico they show highlights for an SKC match, they are just referred to as Kansas. So it's like Rayados 10 - Kansas 2. No effort to get the team name (or even city) fully correct. Although to be fair, the state is correct!
