Breaking #SaveTheCrew news: a group that includes the Haslam Family are acquiring the Columbus Crew, keeping the team in the city.

More to come in @sbjsbd shortly.
good for them, and the league

instant rivalry with Cincinnati, and Austin too if that still ends up getting off the ground

Bradley playing in a meaningless game for TFC, given that they've already been eliminated
Was that USA#1 game he played yesterday or Monday?
And where was it?
I admire his effort anyway, and ... that's about it
Maybe he just has to in order to justify that salary lol

And in other news, Vancouver needs to beat SKC with most of their team injured or out due to internationals
Great schedule when you have so many key players missing games for that reason right before the playoffs

bradley came on as a late sub last night

TFC is paying him a billion dollars so I guess they figure they'll squeeze whatever they can out of him at this point

weird like their MO every year now

yeah it's bizarre

get off to terrible start
suffer devastating injuries
catch fire in the 2nd half of the season

every year

speaking of coming into the playoffs hot, dc united has 20 points in their last 8 games after winning 2nite (rooney does it again). mostly wins at home, but still amazing.

dc united magic number over le impact is 3 pts with 2 games to go.

ya adding Rooney + having their home schedule backloaded seems to have paid off for them

guess I'd double-check their away results of late before knowing how to feel about them in the playoffs

ya, probably obvious, but I said a couple years ago that the #1 factor that MLS teams need to screen for with these expensive players is the personal integrity to give a ****, and Rooney certainly seems to have that. From what I know of him he comes off as a simple, honest dude who just loves to play. Looks to be a good teammate. Checks enough boxes for me.

Just sub in the Galaxy for RSL and he couldn't be happier.

DON obv needs to rig this for Zlatan in the playoffs. If you're gonna have this horrible playoff system where more than half the league makes it just make sure a team from Salt Lame City isnt in it over Hollywood Zlats

Maybe the ZLATS should try being in the top half of the Western Conference then, instead of being a bunch of stadium-destroying punkasses.

Can someone tell me why vermes loves shelton so much? He has 2 goals in 18 games and we have rubio and gerso as possible replacements

yeah that's a terrible draw after being up 2-0.

can still leapfrog SKC next weekend as they play each other.

RSL has actually played all of their games now, not sure how that scheduling happened.

so LAG just need to beat Houston at home next weekend and they're in.

Odd # of teams so someone had to get a bye.

Impact miraculously still alive but they need a win at NE coupled with a Crew loss or tie at home to Minnesota. MUFC are 1-13-2 on the road so I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

DCU’s record at Audi Field is now 12 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw. They were in last place as recently as mid-August but have clinched a playoff spot and will finish anywhere between 4th and 6th. I’ve been to a bunch of the games, and yesterday against NYCFC was basically a microcosm of the past three months (i.e., the Rooney and Acosta show). That said, also key to their success has been the central midfield partnership of Russell Canouse and Junior Moreno, both of whom have been called up to their respective national teams in 2018, plus the return of Bill Hamid at GK. The difference in GA has been stark, only 20 in 19 games with Rooney compared to 30 in 14 games before him.

A home game in the opening round would be great, but even on the road I’d fancy their chances against anyone in the East outside of Atlanta and NYRB right now.

I really, really wanted to bet on them to playoff when they were in last and had just signed Rooney. It was obvious they still had a great chance b/c home games are worth so many more PPG in MLS (unless you're a sicko team like ATL, then you just win double digit games at home and on the road). Wonder if the odds would have been that long.

I think they will get a home game in the opening round. All they have to do is beat Chicago basically.

Decision Day starting in mere minutes! The big question on everyone's minds is will preseason MLS Cup favorites the Impact secure their place in the playoffs or bow out. It will require a win at NER couple with a MUFC win or draw at Columbus (and MUFC have last 13 of their first 16 road matches). Hoping the duo of Ángel and Darwin can play loose and free and bag some goals.

Let us googogogogog

lots of things at stake today, so naturally i'm watching this dire Wondo Watch game that Seattle needs to win to have a chance at a bye.

Atlanta already 2 goals down, is the supporters shield be slipping away already? A one goal loss is enough if nyrb only draws, otherwise they will need to win with a red bull win.

Galaxy have to beat an unmotivated Dynamo to qualify for the playoffs, no score yet a first half Kamara brace should end the drama early.
