Classic coward who had the opportunity to move to Europe and instead chose to stay home and play in Seattle. He has regressed as a player and last season scored only 3 goals, not the 4 I suggested as hyperbole assuming he'd scored a pathetic number but better than 4

Only a small percentage of MLS fans care about CCL, less.than half have heard of the competition.

Morris wasn't good bc he was able to bully kids in college

and he wasn't good bc he put up some stats on a dominant Sounders team

has always been badly overrated by Yanks who are desperate for more Pulisiceseses

he would have been exposed rather quickly if he went to Europe, so tbh getting a good MLS payday was probably the best thing for him

sucks about the injury tho, hopefully he makes a good recovery

Not sure if serious, but their league has 18 teams right now and they're not sending anyone down for 2 years, but promoting a 19th and 20th team over the next 2 seasons before resuming normal promotion/relegation.

They're so bad they only have like 7 players even good enough to be rated on transfermarkt. They should be getting stomped by USL/NASL type teams, much less MLS.

Whether fans care or not (lol MLS fans why wouldn't you care? Afraid of that fixture congestion when you are jockeying for playoff position?) It's completely inexcusable to not advance over the 8th placed team in the ****ing panamian league. Do you realize how bad that quality is? To be losing to a team like that under any circumstances is a massive embarrassment yet MLS slappies continue to make excuses and here we are with a once dominant national team in their region now missing out on world cups to the likes of Panama. This is exactly the point. I know he's ass and all the things you said above. But go to Europe and maybe get better. If not come home and collect your MLS check. But the fact that this guy didn't even try and scores 3 goals last season in MLS and still is in the national team picture is another thing that is so so wrong with MLS/USMNT

Lol 72off. He obv has no idea. I've actually watched a bit of liga mx this season and while it's not Europe its a league with a bit of quality and some decent stuff. Mexico gonna Mexico though

TFC is taking the Champions League very seriously. Vanney basically said he's not rotating anybody the first 3 weeks so that we are in top form when we play Tigres.

Seems like we're willing to have a performance lull during the middle of the regular season if it means we max our chances to win this competition.

I'm really looking forward to the match vs Tigres .... given the weather I doubt we'll sell all 32,000 seats for it but I think they'll find a way to get 25,000 in there barring a snowstorm.

Honestly, who gives a crap about MLS regular season. You can mail it in for a month or 2 and still easily make the playoffs with a high seed if you're a quality team. MLS has also shown they're willing to shift the schedule around if you make a deep run in CCL.

I think it'd be great for the long-term growth of soccer in the USA if CCL became an important competition and a rivalry grew between Liga MX and MLS. Obviously it will never be UEFA CL level, but it could be fun nonetheless.

As an Impact fan, the memories of the CCL are among the most cherished. Cameron Porter never did anything in his career other than 1 goal vs. Pachuca and will forever remain a legend.

I'm super disappointed América won't get to face FC Dallas. For sure would have gone to that match at Azteca.

Yep. You're so right. The regular season is completely meaningless and as you say, if you're a good team there is absolutely no reason to take the season seriously or blow off international competitions. This is the future. CCL has to be taken seriously and then eventually an "Americas Tournament" or in other words, getting MLS teams into the Libertadores.

I'm in Brazil right now and went to the Botafogo game Monday and weirdly met some of the club representatives. Met one at a brewery today and this seems to be what South American teams want. They don't know the league is ass, but the lure of "New York City" coming to Brazil for a tournament is pretty big and would be awesome for everyone involved. LOL MLS would probably turn their noses at the likes of playing a Palmeiras or Corinthians or Gremio or Boca Junior or Millionarios etc... and getting exposure to an entire continent

Despite Santa Tecla's diving, butchery, and general concacafness, the sounders look completely useless. Another half like that and they will be out.

Couldn't watch any of the matches, but 2 nice results.

Next round we have:

América v. Tauro
TFC v. Tigres
NYRB v. Tijuana
Sounders v. Chivas

Kinda sucks that TFC drew Tigres as I think they might even be a favorite against Tijuana and could give Chivas a run for their money (with their current form), but I don't think they will have much for Tigres. NYRB is probably the best hope for an MLS team in the semis.

Yea would have liked to see TFC draw tigres later once they've got a few games under their belt. Will still be fun to see the best team in MLS v the best team in Mexico especially if Vanney isn't being a coward and actually going for it
