are we sure LAFC is going to be good?

So far I'm only willing to consider that TFC and Atlanta are good. Everyone else is a pretender

Vela will probably be the best player in the league now. But only about half of their roster is complete so who knows what the rest will look like. Benny, Rossi, and Ciman are decent additional pieces, and they have a legit coach.

Montreal supposedly in for Saphir Taider from their parent club Bologna
was a hot prospect a few years back, has been at clubs like Inter & Southampton
still only 26 (next month)
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/saph...spieler/144779

also, Claudio Marchisio apparently looking for an MLS move
the Juve man was a pretty sick player in his prime
now about to turn 32, has been pretty banged up of late
would be a sick add for someone if healthy, but...

Not really that exciting for Taider since it's just a Dzemaili for Taider swap and Dzemaili seemed comfortable in MLS and Taider is an unknown. Would have been incredible to see Dzemaili AND Taider. Imagine a 4-2-3-1, with Piette at DM, Taider B2B, Dzemaili in the #10, and Piatti out left. Pretty sure IMFC has more than enough cap space. They don't even really use all their available DP spots.

At least Garde seems more interested in giving young Canadians and random French league dudes a chance rather than just trotting out a bunch of old MLS journeymen like Oduro and Camara week after week. There are still too many **** contracts for Garde to be competitive though. They're trying to get rid of Mancosu but they're paying him too much for Serie B or a low Serie A side to be interested.

BARCO to Atlanta is now officially official

MLS Draft also today
LAFC picked this new João Moutinho 1st & traded for the #3 pick as well and took some defender
LAG also took a defender 2nd
Montreal sold two top10 picks for allocated monies

David Accam traded to Philly for a bunch of allocated monies, which i reckon Chicago will be able to put to good use

Montreal also signed another Canuck (Michael Petrasso) from QPR, the right-sided player could be another nice pickup, like Piette last year

Thought the Accam deal would be the blockbuster of the day, but here we are with a late entrant:

Gyasi Zardes and 400K allocation money to Columbus.
Ola Kamara to LA Galaxy.

Sigi doing work.

Didn't Chicago get like a million in allocated moniez? That's basically like giving them another DP, assuming they can recruit 2 quality guys to replace Accam. Seems like the best way to game the system is just stockpile a ton of allocation money, then you could put together a solid core with 3 DPs and 3 quasi-DPs making 600k-900k that you just buy down with the allocation money. This assumes you are able to scout those players and willing to sign them. Philly has literally done zero since the season ended even though their owner always promises to spend a bunch, so probably better for them to just grab any decent player offered to them.

The promised a difference maker at both Wing and #10. Delivered on one so far.

The money was spread out over two years. For the price, it probably would be tough to get an equivalent player on the open market, if the upper end of what you are willing to spend is million on transfer fee plus million a year.

He has proved himself in MLS. And was previously teammates with Bedoya. So the risk is pretty low, other then injuries which are a real risk. He has averaged the last three years in goals and assists what Pontius career year was. Pretty excited.

This may be a trade where both teams win.

Wouldn’t mine them signing Lee Nguyen. Earnie Stewart came out and promised a difference maker at 10 and wing. Don’t mind his age as we have a young #10 home grown.
Looks like Lee Nguyen didn't show up for camp to drive a trade.

Union supposedly are having an emergency meeting, who knows maybe it could be because the kit leaked early. Or hopefully Sugarman is sending $1 million to the league to convert it to discretionary TAM.

listened to an interview with Don Garber on the Grant Wahl podcast. My god, that guy knows nothing about soccer. Pretty sad that's the guy leading MLS.

Apparently the Ballou to Barca transfer is 7 figures, but don't think a # has been confirmed yet. MLS also changed the rules so that teams keep 100% of the transfer for homegrowns. Good news for teams like Dallas, NYRB, and VWFC (who will make a mint on Davies).

skc is finally spending some TAM on attackers. just signed johnny russell from derby county. getting a 27 year old with some success in the championship is welcome considering the complete inability to score goals

I dont see why they won't.

I hope the team name is FC Beckham or something. That would be awesome.

ok for lols... LV Lights goalie tackles an impact player 5 yds. outside the penalty box and gets a red card.

wat (on the goalie decision, not the red card which was obv) LVLols is a more appropriate name.

Any interest in an MLS Fantasy League this year? Low stakes $10 or $20.

Played last year and their format is actually pretty great. Can select a new team each week (which is necessary with all the double gameweeks). Much better than the Premier League Fantasy game. Just boring to play against a giant field with no sweat. Would be fun to play against thread regs
