well the back-passing that preceded implied that he wasn't to just boot it. just make a hopeful play in the attacking end.

wat
i mean, when that kind of thing happens it's not a set play, they're being driven back by the defense
and 99.9% of the time they pass it back to the keeper or boot it, yeah

actually looked like he wanted to pass it to the lb but ****ed up
both flanks looked open lol

contemptibly lacking courage in attack, as much as anything the defense did. and it's too often the case, for lack of technique and confidence.

they think puttering it back around in a predictable fashion, and 'resetting the canvas' is more likely to yield a chance. I'm not a believer.

props to the kid actually, for trying something when all his mates were in reverse

Utterly shocked that B-Rod was complete ****.

This is incredible, 46% pass % (only guy who hit the pitch under 60%), missed every pass forward except 1, no shot attempts registered.

Just got in from 8 hour road trip. Put on MLS for first time live all year. Within 2 minutes a dude on Cincinnati managed to cock up a breakaway in amazing fashion even by lol MLS standards

he was horrible at the olympics. he couldn’t have had a worse debut tonight. and to top it off, he’s going to be taking the minutes that should be going to Leo Fernandez (a much better player) all season long. LOL TIGRES

Nah, you can't blame that on Thauvin. Leo didn't even play in weeks 1 or 2 when Thauvin was unavailable.

Leo wasn't playing last year either b/c of Tuca's dumb old ass. I wish he would have stayed with Toluca.

Schedule is so confusing. Over the next 3 nights we've got a mash-up of CCL and Leagues Cup matches. It's just gonna make everyone not really care much about any of it and further slow CCL from ever gaining any real traction.

Of course the only real solution is MLS and Liga MX to Copa Libertadores.

That's relatively standard if you think about Europe and CL and Europa in same week usually I think, although they might be on different days

Good marketing would use the League Cup games as the lead in, and on Thursday you have the double header

Philly has to be competitive though, and I hope they are, but they have struggled lately

It's a decent point, but UCL and EL are well established competitions with a long tradition and I'm sure most fans know UCL is the premier competition with EL being the secondary competition.

I guess my main beef is with Leagues Cup. There's no rhyme nor reason to it. They just made up a competition so they could get MLS and LMX together in some quasi-important matches. Most fans aren't even gonna realize there are 2 concurrent competitions going on, how teams qualified to each, etc. At least with CCL, I think you have something you can build on, as "our" Champions League and MLS is now starting to be much more competitive, but I think Leagues Cup just kinda waters it down and now people won't realize the CCL Semis are the main thing to be focusing on.
