How do you take the USSF, overflowing with cash through player registration fees, advertising deals, etc. and bankrupt it?

Let corporate interest take over (SUM, MLS), allow them to put their people in charge and allow them to pull down insane salaries.

Twenty five years ago, USSF would have shrugged-off the coronavirus downturn with a smile. The USSF used to have internal problems, but it was about the youth players and the game first, second and last. Now, not so much.

I suck at remembering exact years but Mexico's Rafa GOATuez played like a decade w/Barca and then w/Red Bulls, so I'm guessing one might be him.

Also, as a bonus answer, I don't think Raul played in MLS, but did play in one of the crappier US leagues.

I'm drawing a blank on who the 4th guy might be tho.

Bojan is an insane story. Had 10 goals in like a dozen starts with Barca as a freakin' 16 year old. Even the biggest hater couldn't have predicted how far he'd fall.

Yes in the NASL (apparently it's folded now), he even won and scored in Soccer Bowl 2015! I didn't know this was a thing until I did a bit more reading on Raúl.

All 4 players played for Barcelona in this game. 0 were on Real Madrid. Think about that...4 future MLSers all on one team in El Clasico. Obvious what the outcome was

MLS is big time back! They're going with a World Cup style tourney starting on July 8th. Group stage matches then 16 qualify for the knockout stage.

It depends what the end game is for MLS. If it's just a short tourney with plans to go to a normal Fall-Spring schedule like the rest of the world, then I like it.

If they're sticking with the same schedule format, then I don't get it.

IIRC the Impact aren't able to have home matches due to COVID for a couple months. There are probably a couple other cities in the same boat.

So the tournament seems like a way to get in some regular season matches in a fair way while also having something extra on the line with a tournament. Winner also gets a CCL bid I believe, so there's a bit of extra incentive.
