I liked the MLS v Liga MX thing a lot more. MLS could lean into that rivalry to generate more interest. Now that MLS is capable of consistently beating LMX there could be something there. SCCL is a joke in that it's barely promoted and payouts for teams are laughable, but it's usually super entertaining for those in the know.

I'm not really a fan of expanded Leagues Cup though. I'd much rather all the focus go into making one tourney legit. If you're gonna do an additional tourney, then maybe make it like Copa Sudamericana and take teams 5-10 in each league instead of doubling up on so many teams. It also doesn't help that the standings are so confusing bc both leagues have a playoff and LMX even crowns 2 champions each season.

If I had unlimited power, I'm making MLS 40 teams and then splitting it into a first and second division with pro rel and going to a traditional schedule with no playoffs. LMX goes back to a long schedule, no playoffs as well. Then pump a lot of money into SCCL and actually promote the thing. You could even look into something like sending 1-4 to SCCL and 5-8 to Libertadores. It worked for LMX in the past.

MLS can also take off the training wheels and eliminate the salary cap, the league has reached the point where it's stable enough. The threat of relegation will be enough to get the minnows like Montreal to spend a bit.

ok nvm, montreal def not back (currently getting killed by vancouver lol)

10' piette off injured
23' camacho red card
38' white, from becher
43' becher, from ahmed
45' gressel, from white
ht 3-0 van

getting ripped apart by players from the woat academy ... could get ugly in the 2nd half

Simon Becher now has 4 goals and 1 assist in just under 90 minutes for VWFC’s first team across all competitions since last year
scorepoints per 90 off the charts, funny bc i don't think he's supposed to be that great of a prospect. but who knows. incredible start to his career, lfg

Jesus, Montreal started an attacking trio of Toye-Rea-Offor. That wouldn't even be an above average CPL lineup.

Glad I committed to not watching a single minute of them this season.

Still can't believe they received a ton of cash in transfer fees and then bought basically noone. On top of that, I was kinda excited to see Joaquin Torres in an expanded role and they let him go too.

How do you just decide to punt an entire season? Montreal isn't a die hard soccer town and is fed up with these owners so wouldn't be surprised to see some horrible home attendances later in the season like 7k range.

12 out of 28 teams kept a clean sheet and another 7 only allowed 1 goal.

Nobody allowed over 2 except for lolMontreal.

Are teams actually spending on defenses now or just a coincidence?

SKC hoofed some nice prayers from distance, hardly testing the Philly keeper.

1-0-0 at home
0-5-0 on the road

Many are thinking they could become the first team in MLS history to go 17-0-0 home 0-17-0 road

D.C. United ends six-game winless rut with a 1-0 victory at Montreal, thanks to Lewis O'Brien's first MLS goal.

Montreal has lost six of seven this season under former DCU boss Hernan Losada.

They're tanking and there's no Bedard or Wembanyama at the end. This is one of the worst trades in history. They gave up an all star and 1.3 million for Duke and Lassiter???

I wish the Habs were this good at tanking.

LOL MLS. LOL Apple TV

Went to watch my guy Klausinho after the Knicks game ended last night and Apple TV wasn't acknowledging my sign in. Apparently was a common problem.

Then if you care enough to go back and watch today (I don't) the score and highlights are plastered everywhere and impossible to avoid. If you're going to only have 2 time slots then maybe make sure your dumb paywalled app actually works for it

are those players supposed to be any good?

I don't know much about the players but pretty much everyone in r/MLS was loling the trade and some thought it almost looked like collision. They said even if you valued Miller at 0, it's still an awful trade. Those 2 players IMFC got might have been worth like 500k GAM, but not 1.3 million. Then on top of that you give away Miller, just lol

El Tráfico delivers as usual. Galaxy shoot themselves in the foot. Same as it always were.

Montreal big time back.

They finally found a team they can beat. Vaughan Azzurri in the Canadian Champ from whatever the League 1 Ontario is. Still only beat them 2-0 lmao...and they're a semi-pro team.

For some bizarre reason, they already have to play TFC in the quarters next while VWFC are on the other side of the bracket. So I guess it's back to losing for Montreal.

heard their goals came from a free kick and penalty as well, so nothing from open play lol

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/League1_Canada

i guess this league1 is the division below cpl. vaughn won the ontario league, which has been around since 2014. laval won the quebec league (around since 2012), but they already lost to cpl hamilton 3-0. the bc league champs tss rovers are currently up 2-0 on cpl winnipeg, pretty cool. play the winner of calgary/victoria next, if they can hang on.

there's also a new alberta league starting next year, wonder if they're planning any more of these. more cpl teams all the time too, good stuff. arguably would be a good thing if montreal, toronto and vacouver left mls for cpl, build up a strong domestic system

think the whitecaps won last year which is why they got their own side of the bracket, why imfc/tfc in the quarters idk, maybe that was just the draw? must be

And they’ve done it! The TSS Rovers have beaten Valour FC 3-1 the preliminary round of the #CanChamp!

That’s the first-ever time a semi-pro side has beaten a pro side in a Can Champ tie
