streak over! I'm not sure if the rainout makes it officially count as winning a 3 game series instead of 4 or not, but our announcers say it counts and that is good enough for me.

Yeah it counts imo.

My un-biased opinion is that it's a technicality so I don't really count it as it was supposed to be a 4 game series, it doesn't really matter either way but just seems odd to me.

Tagg Romney and Dave Stewart reportedly outbid the Jeets and Bush for the Marlins. This is a win-win situation rooting for failure. Again Jeebus Christ at the $1.3 bil.

Marlins are gonna be a fun watch when Stew inserts himself as GM with a modus operandi of proving just how smart he really is.

How does Stewart have that much money?

He doesn't, it's just a face for the group. Jeter is only putting up $25-$100mil but having him involved helps build confidence for investors.

Is Derek Jeter going to be the most overrated slam dunk 1st ballot HoF of all time?

Has the same WAR as Alan Trammell.

Yes, although Nolan Ryan was close based on peak vs. longevity and Cal Ripken's WAR still seems too high.

tbf that's because Alan Trammell was really, really ****ing good.

Also that's by bWAR, fWAR has Jeter comfortably ahead. He's around the 7th/8th best shortstop of all time by both measures.

Last edited by minnesotasam; 05-05-2017 at 01:56 PM. Reason: also his bWAR and fWAR are identical, which is crazy

I'm the a huge Jeter hater but he's played 158 games with excellent splits in the postseason to Trammell's 13. Trammell should be in regardless, but Jeter's overall body of work is better.

Quick glance at first balloters seems like he'd be bottom 3 at best

Gary Sanchez in the starting lineup

I'd probably take a bowling pin at SS instead of Jeter and place him at DH. LOL at labeling him the 7th/8th best SS of all time by any measure.

That I think a bowling pin would be a better fielder than Jeter, and that is not a good thing.

That's a pretty bad argument. Maybe refine it a little more next time before bringing it to the table.

Meh 7 or 8 seems fair...Yount, A-Rod, Honus, Cal, Ernie Banks yeah > Jeter...Jeter > Trammel & Larkin imo. Ozzie Smith is tough...I wouldn't put him ahead of Jeter but I would understand the reasons. Anybody else...
