If they want Maddon pretty sure I'd take Girardi.

Just an FYI

Springfield of Dreams: Homer at the Bat, is as funny as modern Simpsons. I gave it a chance, but only lasted 10 minutes.

Troll gonna troll.

I just realized that the Astros have now won games by scoring against the three best closers in MLB (Kimbrell, Chapman, Jansen) this postseason. pretty sick.

Hey dumb ****faces, last week an hour long Simpsons documentary on the "Homer at the Bat" episode was released. It has been airing on FS1. It is the same quality of modern Simpsons episodes.

I've been looking everywhere for it after I heard that Wade Boggs does a full bit about Lord Palmerston vs Pitt the Elder

This Sunday I'll be at Chase Field to take part in their "Swing for your seats" promotion. Everyone who renewed their season tickets during the first couple weeks renewals started can do it.

From the info I've found, I get 5 pitches(pitches, not swings) from a pitching machine set to somewhere between 60-70 mph. Hit a HR, get your tickets for free(up to 10k). Hit the wall, win a grand or something. Hit various other targets around the field, win smaller prizes.

When I was playing in college, I'd have had a good shot as I regularly hit them out during batting practice, and occasionally during games. That was in the mid/late 90s. As of 6 weeks ago I'm 40 now, and before going to the batting cages last weekend, I hadn't taken a swing at a baseball in 20 years. I hit a lot better than I expected to, but I'm realistic about my chances. I'm hoping to connect solidly at least once, and see if I can give it a run. If nothing else, the experience should be pretty cool.....tho I hate it's in the middle of a football Sunday.

How many of you think you'd have a realistic chance? I'm assuming an open roof and wooden bats. I can't imagine any of us would be a favorite, but maybe a couple of you youngsters think you would be. What say you 2p2?

I'd be a dog, but I can think of at least one poster I'd expect to hit 60 HRs in an hour, on which basis I'd expect they have a pretty good shot.

Lol football Sunday! Taking hacks on the field is awesome, i would order the minimum qualifying package for that alone

Are you using metal or wood? Id have an outside shot with aluminum, possibly dead with wood. In high school I would definitely have been able to poke one to left.

Lol, if you mean me, my rate drops considerably when the fences get beyond 250. Thats my lazy fly ball range.

Only reason I'm griping about Sunday is for some reason I didn't get the email they sent out 2 months ago about signing up. I finally called Monday, and Sunday at 1:00 is all they had available. I'd have rather done Saturday since I usually hang out with friends on Sundays, but I'm definitely not gonna skip the chance to do it. Fwiw, my weekend package is only about $280, so you definitely don't need a high dollar package to qualify.

Not sure about bats. I'm going in assuming wood. Like you, I'd have a shot with aluminum, but not sure with wood. Been a long time since I've swung a wooden bat.

Should be a fun time regardless.

Also bighurt, I don't remember exactly what your claim was about how many homeruns you could hit on a little league field in how much time, but I remember thinking I could probably do it as well.

One every 24 seconds for an hour? Wow, that would be tough, but I'd bet I could do it. We need to make this happen!

That's awesome how much did your tickets cost?

edit. nevermind see you answered that already.

Also, I'd wager you guys would puke from exhaustion before you hit 150 dingers in an hour.

It sounds great. I actually just got a bucket with two dozen balls in the mail from Amazon yesterday.

Idea is there is a pitcher and a few shaggers. And you stroke for an hour.

I firmly believe that i am the career homerun leader at the little league complex in my hometown thats been around since before i was born. Havent added more than a few this decade, but probably hit over 2,000 on the various fields between 98-2009.

I only have a 28 game weekend package, but it was in the $280-$300 range per seat.

If you actually set this this up I'll put some money down, but my bet alone won't make it worth your while. I would be entertained watching it either way and probably rooting for you to make it over 150. How many pitchers do you think you are going to need? I'll bet on the 150 not the puking, that was a joke.

Would having one dude(or dudette) sitting behind a screen feeding balls into a pitching machine change the difficulty level too much? Seems like it might make it a little easier. Maybe a lot easier.
