But whatever. As someone said, if a muscular guy is mashing homers, there will always be PED talk. That and he basically came out of nowhere (though he mashed big taters like crazy in Korea against lesser pitching).

on the bright side, we have secured our 1 run tonight. Well, there is no bright side, there's a bright light that the Royals are heading into

Keon Broxton has 57 PA and 24 K. Maybe it's something with the name B_xton.

Ariel Hernandez and Wandy Peralta have complete NASTY stuff, damn. Through all the **** I've sat through that is the Reds bullpen, these young arms look insane. Both of them could be in the top 10 in terms of raw stuff in baseball, no joke. Command is the main concern as it is with both young arms, but if they hone that in they are going to dominate for years. Hernandez through a "curveball" tonight that registered 89 MPH on the gun. WTF

before tonight we were on pace for the worst wRC+ in like 100 years while having the best ERA- of like a 100 years for starters

fun in small sample sizes

He is obviously sun running now but he's on some huge rate projections. His combined American baseball ISO is probably around .180, but those KBO MLEs knock his 2017 Steamer up to .244. Projected 12th in SLG between JoDo and Kris Bryant. Are there any examples of other players that have done that without shooting up the Juic≡ro?

Thames is sure taking his walks, as well. He's just a much better hitter.

He pitched well against the Royals last week, too. But, he's just one of a parade of millions to baffle them, so that doesn't count

Hey guys,

I'm trying to plan a trip this summer to hit up a some games, including one in chicago (Cubs). Is there any parts of the city we need to avoid for the hotel?

Last time I went I got a hotel in Elmhurst when the lone purpose for the trip was to attend Sox games. That was stupid.

Yeah I suppose. There are probably some others too but it seems like a rare exception to the rule of aging. Like if you took a Bayesian approach and included every player that had a mid-career power surge, I'm pretty sure a classification model would give a high confidence level for ROIDS. I think that's what people are reacting to.

South Korea has stricter drug testing than MLB.

It's possible there's some roids in South Korea that aren't being picked up by the U.S. testing. Pure speculation, obv. I don't necessarily think he is juicing, I think the Reds are serving him up most of these on a platter. I don't even think Thames is the top in exit velocity or anything like that, so it isn't like he is hitting the ball harder than everyone else in the majors.

Roids don't help you take ****ty breaking balls in the dirt and not swing at fastballs at your face though guys. Compare his rate of swinging at pitches in and out of the zone this year and in his previous MLB stint. He's always had big power, and if he's on the juice, he probably was before too. Korea just made him a better hitter. Saying 'someone randomly getting good at baseball = ROIDS' is ****ing lazy.
