Kershaw's season has many oddities this year. Another is that while being 14-2, 2.18 era, he's already given up 2 more home runs than his previous career high. His F.I.P. is higher than it's been any year since 2010, and more than 150% of what it had been the last 3 years.
His career old school stats line to date is just so sick, 140-62, 2.35 ERA.
Well the Cubs desperately need starting pitching, not just for this year, but going forward with Arrieta & Lackey likely gone next year, so 3.5 years of Quintana for cheap is huge. It's a lot to give up, but seems way better than the top prospect for a 3-month rental thing they did last year.
The White Sox are going to be scary in a couple years.
