It seems like David Wrght has missed more time than he has. 30 something games each of the last two years, and 100+ every year since his rookie season. Very surprised hes never missed a full year.
When there is a defensive shift against a lefty, shouldn't the 3rd baseman be the one to move behind 2nd and the SS cover the whole left side of the field? This has probably been brought up a bunch, but do any teams do it like this?
Ok, I guess I don't pay attention enough to games other than the Astros. The Astros, who are always at the top of list in shifts, don't do it that way. Which is ******ed having Marwin Gonzalez covering the whole gap while Correa is just chilling plopped behind 2nd.
Some teams, I know the Dbacks are one, will move players around depending on the count. Lamb may be playing in the 2b spot with the 2b in shallow right, then after a strike is thrown, or some change in the count, he'll move back to the left side and the SS will move over to the right side.
Disclaimer: I don't recall who moves where, and when, but they do a lot of moving players around as the count changes.
