Kenley Jansen with the old -0.95 FIP in 16 IP.

Lowest FIP ever for a reliever in a season is 2012 Kimbrel with 0.78. Kimbrel also is dealing this year with a FIP of 0.50.

FIP equation blows up with any walks and REALLY blows up with any homers, so its not surprising his FIP is so low right now. He hasn't given up a homerun yet, or walked anyone.

Here's the FIP equation:

This year's FIP constant is 3.05

Checking the math: (13*0HR + 3*(0BB+0HBP) - 2*(32K))/16IP + 3.05 = -0.95

If Jansen had given up 1 HR his FIP would still be negative, but only -0.14. If he gives up 1 HR and 1BB, his FIP is 0.05.

TLDR - it's REAAALY hard to maintain a negative FIP all season. If Jansen kept pitching an 18 K/9 with 0 walks, for ROS, he could only give up 4 HRs total and still maintain a negative FIP. He only gave up 4 HR last year... so I think it's actually doable. Crazy stuff

Saves are what matters and he is tied for 6th in the league. So he's not doing all that great.

Reds booth was visited by a rally bird that hasn't moved an inch. Sitting right on Thom's seat.

"Lord Pigeon" has been a reddit meme for a while now, this **** happens a lot of GABP but this is the first time in the booth it's happened I think.

Bochy's insistence on playing Cain until there's no chance of a comeback is pretty impressive

I love Cain but it's time for this to stop

So let's say he plays until he's........ 38? A few mid length injuries so we'll call it another 11 seasons. He has like 175 now?

I'm gonna go with around 500?

Guess the o/u is like 375 or something factoring in injury possibility or loss of form.
