The really impressive thing to me about Bryant is how he's cut his strikeout rate. I remember when he first came up everyone was saying he'd probably strikeout 30+% of the time, hit like .240, but make up for it with his power. He was in the upper 20's throughout the minors and over 30% in his 1st year. Now this year he's down to 19% and flirting with being a .300 hitter for the second year in a row.

Also - it wasn't 1/3 of the season and he's still top 3-5 in WAR (for position players, in spite of that. Him being absent from the team is also less harmful than him being in and hitting .650 OPS.

Not all that relevant as Altuve wins whatever.

Also, super rooting for Cubs/Nats (looking very likely) as I'm gonna have to go for work to D.C. a ****load around that time, and then also for Cubs/Astros WS as gonna have to go to Austin around that time so I can be close at least.

No, I'm saying if you dismiss a guy b/c he has a bad stretch, you shouldn't be talking about a different guy that missed 50 games.

Is Judge's WAR below 0.0 in the 50 game stretch that Trout missed? Maybe it is, I honestly don't know.

As good as Trout is, would you rather Trout for 100 games or Judge for 162 in 2017?

He's not saying Judge is better than Trout.

He's saying the VALUE lost by missing a big stretch is instructive when determining which player has conferred the most value to his team this year.
