heard a stat watching the marlins game...the announcer said something along the lines of that during jeter's entire career, he only played 1 game where his team was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. If thats true, that's absolutely nuts

I heard that in Timmy's voice.

His voice is actually eerily similar to David Spade's, but I digress.

Teams were the best. I was 13 years old in 96 so I basically had unbelievable Yankee baseball for my entire adolescence after being born into a dry period. I'm not sure that's true though, because the game he closed down Yankee stadium I feel like they were out of it well before the last game but I could be wrong

I actually thought that was the case. It was kurkjian though, so?? maybe the stat was up until his last year or something, dunno. regardless, that was a great stretch for a team that I grew to hate

Finally, there’s this astounding number. According to Elias, it’s the number of games Jeter has played, in his entire career, in which his team, the mighty Yankees, was mathematically eliminated from some sort of race for some sort of trip to the postseason. One meaningless game in 20 seasons? Whoa. On one hand, it would be nuts to argue that was all Derek Jeter’s doing. On the other hand, what defines his career better than that? A man who lived for the big game -- and played nothing but big games. For 20 years. What better way to put a frame around the career of one of the greatest shortstops who ever turned a 4-6-3?

He's going to have to get used to 162 meaningless games a season now

unless he was hurt at the end of 2013/2014 that's not correct....

yankees missed playoffs by 7 games and then by 4...

2-run triple in your maw.

This Twins reliever looks straight out of 1992. His name is Duke, I don't know if it's Zach Duke.

eta: yes, and he's 34. Story checks out.
