Any of you old timers remember Herb Washington? Designated runner for As teams in the 70s. Never had an at bat.

What's the latest news on Ichiro playing? Is he going to retire an M and try to play in Japan?

He was in uniform as a coach(?) yesterday, while wearing batting gloves.

If anyone wants free money take the Bluejays as dogs vs. Astros tonight. Keuchel will get rocked and the Astros are putting out a C- team lineup.

Do the Astros know they are fighting for the division?

Last week in Houston:

He plays long toss before the games sometimes. He has been way more fan friendly than he ever was during his prime.

I think he just loves baseball too much to let it go. He seems to be retiring a Mariner but lots of locals (in-the-know) think he will be on the Mariners’ Opening Day roster for the Japan series next year.

But that should be it for his MLB career.

Gattis, McCann, and Davis will see very little playing time in the playoffs. I'd be surprised/angry if any of them are on the 25 man ALDS. No MarGon even though Korea is hurt. McCann's career is done.

Didn't they already burn out their pen once this season? Seems silly to do it again right before the playoffs.

They have a million relievers because of expanded rosters. I'm not sure why they're doing it, but I assume there's a specific strategy involved.

McCann goes deep in first AB, Astros up 3-0 in 2nd.

There is nothing C- about that Astros lineup. Terrible “tip.”

I’m sure the Brewers are bullpenning to rest their starters.

I'm hope I'm wrong, which is why I don't bet on teams that I'm rooting for. Keuchel sucks now is the problem. He should be delighted if somebody gives him 4 years $55mil, or 3 years 48mil.

5-9 are not regs this year. Kemp is solid, but platoons with Reddick, Margon, and sometimes Marisnick.

Possibly. Based on watching the first inning, it looks like the key part of the plan is to make Carpenter hit against a lefty every time, unless the Brewers are comfortably ahead (or behind, I guess). Jennings started, got Carpenter out, and that was it. New pitcher.

Worked in the first inning. Six pitches I think, 1-2-3. Just eight more innings to go!

From what I've read - and this was predictable - the Cards' announcers don't like it.

And of course the Brewers don't go to a lefty for Carpenter the second time he comes up and he promptly hits an RBI double.

Arizona led the division at the start of every month and won't make the playoffs, will finish under the wins total, and might even finish under .500. Brutal.

What I want to see tonight to make things extremely interesting:

Brewers win
Rockies win
Dodgers lose
Cubs lose

Brewers would be .5 back of the Cubs, Rockies would be .5 back of the Dodgers, Rockies would overtake Cards by .5 games.
