This, not that I've been to Wrigley.

The road fans, at least here, are basically Cruizin. They didn't know the Cubs were a baseball team, or what city they're from, until 2016. They're trolls who are there to be obnoxious, and because they were told it's the cool thing to do.

Several times last night Cubs fans around me would stand up and cheer, only to find out they weren't sure why, or they were cheering for the wrong team. When they saw other people in blue start cheering, they do the same, even if they didn't know what had just happened. Then they'll tell you how they've been a Cubs fan their whole life, yet couldn't tell you what a 2-2 count means. They'll tell you how awesome the Cubs are because they won a championship 2 years ago and your team didn't, yet the only time they have any clue what's going on in baseball is the during the 1 game a year they go to.

Last night, 2 rows behind me, a guy(Cubs fan) spent all night trying to tell his buddies how much he knew about baseball. When the Dbacks brought Lopez into pitch during the 8th innings you hear "this guy is a garbage pitcher, he has a 10.xx era". Never mind it was because he had given up 3 runs in 2.2 innings or whatever. As he got people out and his era dropped, "they're changing his stats to make it look like he's not really that bad. That's not fair". That is your average road Cubs fan.

I enjoy watching games with baseball fans. I don't have any problem with people who come out to the game, having no clue about baseball, but want to hangout with friends. It's when that group suddenly wants to talk **** because they've jumped on the bandwagon of a recently good team because it's the in thing to do that they become *******s. So yeah, they're basically Cruizin.

Not coincidentally, a lot of the current "lifelong" Cubs fans are also currently Warriors fans, and were recently HUGE Seahwaks fans. It's just the way it works.

My best friend from NC is a lifelong Cubs fan(as least for the 15 years I've known him) but he's more like the regular posters on here. Fans of their team, but reasonable people, and actual baseball fans. You have bad fans everywhere and for every team, but Cubs fans, at least road ones, are a different kind of bad.

The majority of Cubs "fans" don't give a **** about baseball, their neighbor's uncle used to watch that Will Ferrell guy calling games on WGN every day when they were a kid, so they aren't that committed to being dicks.

Doyers, Phils, Yanks, BoSox have fan bases that have nothing in their lives other than sports, and will take grudges with other fanbases way too seriously.

To EC, I actually appreciate how much smarter bandwagon fans are than I am. I watched too many of games of the Astros winning fewer than 60 games for 3 years in a row.

Maybe it's because I've only lived in NYC and Chicago (in the US), but I just haven't seen any of that. Other than during the playoffs, I hadn't noticed a huge uptick in the amount of people watching games at Kelly's (the Cubs bar) in NYC from say 2015 to 2017.

Also I didn't see any of this when I was there for Spring Training, and that was 2017 so would have been the worst year for it! Or maybe I was just part of that crowd. Shrug.

Haha, that's fair. But embrace the bandwagon. Don't claim you're anything but that.

Also I don't know a single Cubs fan who is a Warriors fan or was a Seahawks fans. Literally every Cubs fan I know is a Bulls and Bears fans aside from a handful of Pacers/Pistons/Timberwolves and Vikings/Packers. Oh and one Cubs and Knicks fan, bizarrely.

There will always be GHW fans obvs, I don't think that's specific to Cubs road fans, but then again I'm not the one at Chase Field surrounded by dicks.

Multipost from me here, but thinking about it it must be just because of where I've lived. I've only been to Cubs games in Washington, NYC, Chicago, Milwaukee (which is hardly even a road game). These are all major international cities where people from Chicago may well end up in in droves.

mycubbies fans are everywhere because of WGN games, but you probably knew that. Your American timeline is unclear to me. As was the Nebraska football game, but that is probably spouse related.

Aaron Judge batting second tonight, it's been at least 6 weeks I think.

Cubs fans out here are annoying, but in a different way than Dodgers fans. When the Dodgers are in town, police/security seem to get called exponentially more often than for any other games.

Married a Chicagoan in London. Lived there for 4 years post-wedding. Moved to NYC for 7 years. Moved (back) to Chicago earlier this year.

Although she was born here her family moved to IL from Eastern NE/Western IA in the 60s, so they're all Nebraska fans and I got into it through osmosis.

Re WGN yeah of course, hence me concluding that it was down to where I'd been that I didn't see it. I'm sure it exists. I mean, a separate kind of dickhead, but a Saturday night out in Wrigleyville is enough to show you there are plenty of them.

Random in Home Plate Bar and Grill in Houston says “I heard the Astros have trouble with the Mariners” and I say “Yeah, the Mariners have won five straight at Minute Maid Park” as my voice gets progressively louder...

They took it well.

Ok, let's do something. 25 or 50 on each of these next 2 games? Though with Andriese on the mound tonight, I don't like our chances. We'll have to score at least 7 I think, and I don't think they have it in them at this point.

I missed you tonight (for the best given your pitcher MLB Regular Season 2018), $50 on the rubber match?

Yeah, I'm not mad at all about you missing my post for tonight. Andriese isn't even a replacement level reliever, much less a starter.

Booked for $50 for tomorrow. Gl.

#mycubbies

Smoking the ball all over the shop, Andriese 61 pitches and 5 ER through 2.

I don’t know this pitcher, is he a rookie or 6th man type?

He's someone that would never be used in an important spot in a game becuase, well, you see why.

He's only out there becuase Buchholz is shut down.

That's probably accurate(I'm only watching on TV tonight too). In fairness, very few Dbacks fans were going to that game tonight regardless of who they were playing. The team quit, the manager quit, and the starting pitcher hasn't gotten anybody out all year. Would be 5-10k there if they were playing the Padres.

If I didn't already have tickets I probably wouldn't go to another game this year. As it is, I'll make 3-4 more.
