This, not that I've been to Wrigley.
The road fans, at least here, are basically Cruizin. They didn't know the Cubs were a baseball team, or what city they're from, until 2016. They're trolls who are there to be obnoxious, and because they were told it's the cool thing to do.
Several times last night Cubs fans around me would stand up and cheer, only to find out they weren't sure why, or they were cheering for the wrong team. When they saw other people in blue start cheering, they do the same, even if they didn't know what had just happened. Then they'll tell you how they've been a Cubs fan their whole life, yet couldn't tell you what a 2-2 count means. They'll tell you how awesome the Cubs are because they won a championship 2 years ago and your team didn't, yet the only time they have any clue what's going on in baseball is the during the 1 game a year they go to.
Last night, 2 rows behind me, a guy(Cubs fan) spent all night trying to tell his buddies how much he knew about baseball. When the Dbacks brought Lopez into pitch during the 8th innings you hear "this guy is a garbage pitcher, he has a 10.xx era". Never mind it was because he had given up 3 runs in 2.2 innings or whatever. As he got people out and his era dropped, "they're changing his stats to make it look like he's not really that bad. That's not fair". That is your average road Cubs fan.
I enjoy watching games with baseball fans. I don't have any problem with people who come out to the game, having no clue about baseball, but want to hangout with friends. It's when that group suddenly wants to talk **** because they've jumped on the bandwagon of a recently good team because it's the in thing to do that they become *******s. So yeah, they're basically Cruizin.
Not coincidentally, a lot of the current "lifelong" Cubs fans are also currently Warriors fans, and were recently HUGE Seahwaks fans. It's just the way it works.
My best friend from NC is a lifelong Cubs fan(as least for the 15 years I've known him) but he's more like the regular posters on here. Fans of their team, but reasonable people, and actual baseball fans. You have bad fans everywhere and for every team, but Cubs fans, at least road ones, are a different kind of bad.
