And suspending someone 100 games for steroids will put an end to ped use! Oh, wait.

You want it to stop? Let players retaliate. It's a whole lot easier to punch someone in the face if you know there's no chance you'll get punched back.

This is a terrible post.

For many players, the perceived reward for PED use makes the risk worth taking almost no matter how severe the penalty is. No player or team would ever think that the trivial reward for throwing at a hitter was worth the risk of a 40 game suspension.

And there is no evidence that retaliation is an effective deterrent to dirty play in any sport. For example, what stopped the headshots, low bridging, etc., that were endemic to the NBA in the Pat Riley era. Hint: It sure as hell wasn't retaliation.

The best form of retaliation would be for Realmuto to knock out Urena. Because Realmuto is the guy who is going to be targeted later in the year by the Braves, not Urena's dumb ass. When Realmuto gets a broken wrist or whatever, I'm sure that will teach Urena a lesson.

And when Realmuto tears into Urena for getting him hurt, he'll have learned his lesson. I'm glad you finally understand the process.

Another side benefit of Urena's dumbassery is that we don't get to see whether Acuna would have homered for a 6th consecutive game.

ec,

You really should watch Realmuto's reaction right after Acuna was hit. He was not happy.

I can't imagine he would be happy. He knows what comes next. McCutchen had the same issue a few years ago when Pittsburgh broke Goldy's hand.

And wow, was that the slowest developing "brawl" ever?

That and having a completely taxed bullpen, and lineup. 3 weeks with 2 doubleheaders, lots of travel, and no days off is taxing.

Even the toughest guys get banged up over the course of a season.

was the rest of the team slow coming out of the locker room or did they just not decide it was benches clearing worthy for 30 seconds?

lol baseball. if it werent for the nbas 80% tanking rate the 50% one in mlb would be quite embarrassing

technically..

"According to Elias, because of Rule 9.23, Acuna's streak of homering in five straight games remains intact because he was hit by the pitch in his only plate appearance. They have not yet determined if the leadoff home-run streak of three games remains intact.

wow I hadn't seen the pitch... that did not look like a missed attempt at coming inside. there will be ramifications

eta: didn't realize I was quoting the announcers.

why were they saying it was a concern for both teams, does urena throw at people?

Keith Hernandez is the absolute worst. He is a big proponent of unwritten rules, "productive outs", and lots of other dumb **** from the 1970s.
