The aging Cubs are pretty desperate trying for one more year before their window closes and completely gives way to the Brewers. I don't think Yu will be enough, especially since the Brewers will still be adding another pitcher or two, one of which is hopefully Archer. Brewers still NL Central favorites.

The only certain things in life are death, taxes, and shoe completely overrating the brewers.

So Cubs fans are still thinking Schwarber will be something of an asset?

LOL

I'm down for free Schwarber money if Chads doesn't take it all, who's going to escrow?

Yes, I am interested in WAR bets on Schwarber. Please propose something.

Do we really need an escrow?

If Theo is really great he'll be able to flip Schwarber to some middling team for an aging reliever. But the demand for a 24 year old who can't play a defensive position isn't great.

no, we don't.

I'm not that familiar with WAR (my concern is with the defensive side) so I'll need to do some research, but I'm thinking of something like more than 0.2 above or below the average of x reputable estimates with injury protection.

Cliffs: Jim Palmer, Goose Gossage, and Bert Blyleven drop some LOL knowledge about the unwritten rules of baseball.

Some more good stuff from Goose after Cashman didn't invite him to be a coach at spring training.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...pring-training

"Well, with power, is that what happens to you, you turn into a f---ing a--h---," Gossage told the Daily News, in reference to Cashman. "Is that it? I don't know."

"He would've been gone 10 years ago if George was still around," Gossage said. "He'd have been gone when he jumped out of that f---ing airplane. Do you think he's a good f---ing baseball guy, really? He doesn't believe in f---ing coaching."

from last year's ST:
"He said last year that it was "insulting" to him to be compared to Mariano Rivera because he pitched multiple innings per outing while Rivera was utilized primarily as a one-inning closer."

" blasted analytics-inclined executives as a "bunch of f---ing nerds running the game."
