The ****ing idiot used "X"s instead of checks. That's the type of person that votes for Edgar.

Sheffield> Edgar.

Edit: Sheff Hall worthy Edgar is not.

Miguel Sano accused of sexual assault by a local photographer. He denies it but two of his teammates at the time of the assault (and one still with the Twins) have expressed support for the victim. Could be a pretty significant ban coming up

Arrieta keeping busy until he gets signed.

I don't know if I'd call what Sano did sexual assault, It was definitely assault though. He's going to be benched for a while regardless.

I figure all the anti-Edgar talk could only be trolling.

There's no good argument against Edgar. It's getting to be absurd at this point.

i just saw this. smoltz can smd.

espn has been fine in general however, i don't have a problem with them at all. just smoltz. guy is a turd stealer.

Well he's gonna get in this year anyway so they can go ahead and be absurd.

3/52 for Davis in Colorado. Good luck with that.

He wasn't in the top 1% of players in his generation. If Kenny Lofton only gets 3% of the vote no ****ing way Edgar should get in.

He sure as **** was top 1%. Do you know how many people actually play professional baseball?

For reference, there were 1627 records for batting in 2017:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/l...-batting.shtml

Yes there are pitchers in there, and also duplicate records for players who switched leagues.

So let's say there are 1000 non pitchers who take an at-bat per season. Over Edgars 18 year career, there were probably at least 8,000 different hitters in the majors.

You don't think he was top 80?

WOW

He wasn't even the best player on his own team for more than 1 or 2 seasons of his career. All-star 7 out of 18 seasons. Mvp votes 5 times(12th, 3rd, 6th, 14th, 16th). LOL.

Using the play index tool, found the total players who had a PA during his span was 3810. So he wasn't top 38?

Ah yes, he gets penalized for being on the same team with legendary players like Griffey, Arod, and Randy Johnson.

Throw him on the Rays for the last half of his career and he has a stronger case?

No, he wasn't. Also, if you are just going by PAs then pitchers are included in that list, which makes the answer an emphatic **** no.

Edgar is 42nd in OPS+. That's all-time.

Please proceed, governor.

He better have had offensive stats like that when you're surrounded by the stacked lineups he played on, and being such a defensive liability that he didn't even travel with a glove on road trips.

All-star 7 out of 18 seasons. Mvp votes 5 times(12th, 3rd, 6th, 14th, 16th). LOL.

The guy wasn't respected to a HOF degree by writers or fans when he played, things haven't changed.
