I mean, after a bunch of seasons where he had OPS+ of like 34, 39, 43, and terrible stuff like that, he pulls out one great hitting season at age 40 and then walks away.

His career just seems like a giant troll job that everybody must've been in on.

This is his first year voting. I did tweet him the other day asking who had the better career, Morris or Johan, and he did not reply. I don't think he has any surprises in his other nine. I would guess the 6 near locks plus Hoffman, Walker, and Mussina.

unconfirmed twitter reports say darvish to the cubs

New reports saying those reports are completely false.

It will be fun to laugh at the team who gives Darvish more than 4 years. Hopefully it's the Cubs, not the Astros.

Yikes
Eddie Gaedel wiki:

Death
On June 18, 1961, the unemployed Gaedel, who had just turned 36, was at a bowling alley in Chicago, his birthplace and hometown. Gaedel was followed home and beaten. His mother discovered Eddie lying dead in his bed. He had bruises about his knees and on the left side of his face. A coroner's inquest determined that he also had suffered a heart attack

That's horrible and gruesome.

I hope he was just hit and not pinched also, that would be some kind of cosmic joke.

he's been here five months. somehow it's stayed quiet that long. until adam ottavino of all ****ing people posted a picture of him in our lab. ottavino said in his defense "well there is no tag and i never said i was in seattle!"

there are two laptops and a motion capture camera in the photo. where is tim, at the jet propulsion lab?

anyway he's coming along well. i am sure it does not surprise any of you to know that he's fun to be around and drives ridiculous cars to the facility. i am sure more news will be forthcoming on performance.

he's a pretty private guy.

Wow, Heyward’s first opt-out is after this year already. Somehow I doubt he’s going to exercise it. Also he’s STILL only 28 this season. Crazy.

Yeah, the dream/fear was that it was really only a 3-year deal because he'd surely opt-out for one last big payday. MLB Offseason Thread 2017-18 Not looking like that now.

Could be a big HoF class this year. Even Bonds & Clemens getting close (though they'll probably end up at less than this).

I know I'm dreaming but they might make Stanton a full time DH, and still pursue Bryce Harper next year. Dump Ellsbury somewhere, and utilize Gardner/Hicks more . Outfield would be LF-Harper CF Gardner, RF Judge. DH Stanton

Infield could be Todd Frazier (if they get him), Didi, Gleybar, Bird.

Catcher= Kraken.

Lineup would be

Harper
Judge
Bird
Stanton
Didi
Sanchez
Gardner
3B
Gleybar
