See that's not the question you should be asking the question you should be asking is if Fernandez was still alive would he still be a Marlin... to which the only answer I could give to that is...it depends.

So are they still going to stick lol Pujols in the lineup everyday?

Will Beltre pass Pujols in WAR this year is the question. He's 5.5 WAR behind and he gained 5.5 WAR on Pujols last year. (+3.7 vs -1.8)

99.4 to 93.9 currently.

Pujols I'm guessing will be the only player ever to join the 100 WAR club and then get himself kicked out of the club.

I looked at the next 8 or so names through Wade Boggs and none of them ever passed the 100 WAR threshold (b-ref)

value-wise is there much difference in trading a UFA-to-be now vs say the All-Star break?

if so, maybe worth the trade-off for a mediocre team with strong attendance and tv ratings etc to wait?

also related to trading vs re-signing Donaldson, the team might be for sale

Rosenthal reporting in the wee hours that the White Sox are serious contenders for acquiring Manny Machado. Wowsers.

Sports cable contracts have sky rocketed in large part bc of cord cutting

Incredibly dumb.

It will be great when the Cards flip Ozuna this season or next off-season or season for actual top 100 prospects

So, does Archie close in AZ?

I think in his heart he still wants a shot to be a starter.

As long as they're also willing to use him in high leverage, non save situations as needed, Archie should definitely be the closer.

Why is that? Aren't the cable companies going to be making less money going forward?
