its weird how little value he provided over 17 seasons. Definitely can't think of anyone who's been around that long with single digit career WAR.

I don't feel like Votto got robbed at all; it was basically a toss-up between him and Stanton. The vote totals actually reflect the metrics unbelievably well. As long as it went to one of those two guys it was fine, and anyone else would have been unjustified.

And the Reds offense wasn't that bad. They were basically league average as a team in advanced offensive categories with several guys having career years (Cozart, Suarez, Gennett). Suarez routinely batting 6th was awful given his high OBP. Billy and Duvall both sucked.

yeah an upgrade at 1b in Votto would have made the Giants, a team that finished 34 games below .500, into a playoff team, making Votto worth a solid 45 wins, or seven times more impactful than Jose Altuve.

Baseball aint the NBA clown

When i was 10 years old i went to a short season A game, the visiting Everett Aquasox were in town, and i decided i was going to pick out one player to remember and look for him in the big leagues someday, and it was Willie Bloomquist.

You randomly picked out a player? Or tried to pick out the best looking player?

Agreed. They both had phenomenal years. If I have to pick I'm going with Stanton because he's the 1st guy to hit 59 without cheating in over 50 years.

You got a thing for Willie? Trying to picture him in my head now and all i can see is Todd Fraziers face.

Lol, you probably meant did i try to pick the most talented player. No i did not.

I think at that age i assumed most of the players are future big leaguers.

Not sure what that means exactly, but I'm excited for the public rejection of the Cards by Stanton if it gets that far.

Does anyone want to do the Ohtani thing? There will be a decision made tomorrow about his posting. Things will probably move quickly after that. $25 snake draft of teams he'll go to. No escrow needed as it is $25 imo.

Why is that happening when its already been made clear he won't go there?

Stanton to STL obv

Are more than 4 teams in play to actually sign him?

I dont know how the process works, after a club pays his posting fee they negotiate with him like he's a free agent?

Sea, NYY, Bos, NYM, SFG, ATL, CHC. The decision coming Monday will be whether the players union keeps him to $3.5 mil or allows him to get paid. I may have this backwards.imo.

slightly off topic and I'm guessing this has been done before...but do any of you have any good/funny anecdotes from playing in LL/HS/College?
