I think I want Mike Moustakas --> Atlanta

I worry about how brutally awful he was for stretches as he was trying to establish himself in the league,

but the Barves have a HUGE hole at 3B, so we gotta do SOMEthing there.

In. Solid OP.

I kind of already hate this offseason and the Red Sox haven't even signed Hosmer yet.

Didn't Freddie start playing 3B near season's end so Matt Adams could play 1B? What happened with that?

That didn't last, Freddie's not really a 3B

What is the status of Otani? I thought that was still another year away.

Shouldnt we be getting awards this week?

Excellent OP

Cubs are rumored to be high on Alex Cobb too, and they just signed his pitching coach from TB. They're going to need at least a couple starters and Theo was suggesting pretty strongly that they'd be open to trading major league talent for one if necessary, which could mean guys like Happ, Almora, Russell, Baez, Schwarber (in roughly that order) could be available for the right guy.

I think Cobb gets more than MLBTR's 4/48...there's rumoured interest from the entire AL East. Smart FO's will like him being another year away from TJ and for the caliber of competition he generated his numbers against.

Also think Arrieta will get a fifth year now that Cueto and Tanaka are off the table.

I would think Arrieta would get at least 6 from someone. 4 seems ridiculously low. The whole reason the Cubs have always been expected to let him go is that they don't want to make the 6+ year commitment he'll be after. If they could get him for 3-4 years, avoid the worst of the decline, and have his salary off the books by the time Bryzzo etc become free agents, I think they'd be all over it. I'm pretty sure something like 4/100 would've already been discussed in the last couple years and been laughed off by Boras.

Can't wait until the Tigazz sign some awful middle relievers and a new utility guy to replace Andrew Romine. EXCITE.

I would be stoked if the Mariners could get Cobb for $12M/year.

Could definitely use a starter or two.

Meh, Dipoto would just trade him three months later anyways.

No way Yu gets 160 after not being able to get anyone out in the series. But I also thought no one would ever give Panda big money.

If he was tipping his pitches, that's fixable. A couple bad outings shouldn't really affect his value much in any case. He's still the best starter available in a relatively thin market, so he'll have lots of teams bidding against each other driving up the price.

Yu is obviously going to get big money

Heyman reporting the Reds are unlikely to offer Cozart a QO. Feels like a mistake.

Chances that anybody would be willing to take part of the Miguel Cabrera contract?

Would have said yes until I looked his contract up... still 6 years and like 196mm left in guaranteed, and he was below replacement this season.

Seems like the mistake was not getting something for him at the deadline last year when he was having a career year, if they were just going to let him walk and get literally nothing in return.

Less than nothing. Don't teams lose a pick if they don't extend QO to someone like Cozart. Though 17mil is a lot to invest in that dumpster fire.
