Pirates going to get raped on this. imo. They had their window. It will probably be another 20 years before they make the playoffs.
Pirates didn't get raped, but the Astros gave up very little. Musgrove is a MLB ready mid rotation or solid reliever. Moran doesn't have a space in the Astros infield.

Am I the only one who thinks the Pirates did really well in the Cole trade? They probably got 15-
20 years of control for two years of a pitcher coming off the worst year of his career.
I like the return they got tbh. Feliz seems to be a guy that Pittsburgh (i.e. Searage) does well with, and I'd imagine he'd be able to do some nice work with Musgrove too. Musgrove seems like one of those guys who has it all in there somewhere and just hasn't put it all together yet. Wouldn't be shocked if either or both turned out to be really good. Moran seems pretty much MLB ready and just didn't have a spot in Houston's lineup, but should be league average at worst. Martin was available for Rule 5 a month ago and nobody was interested so meh.
It mostly comes down to the adjustment for the demands and value of being a shortstop vs that of being a 1B with a splash of DHing. A decent amount for baserunbing, obv. Small bit for Reese having significantly fewer GIDPs.
re: Cole Trade...seems fair and more in line with what the return should be (i.e. not raiding the farm system) for PIT + years of control for Hou for Cole where even if continues to regress its not a Franchise killer.
More happy that the Yanks didn't purge the farm to get Cole....just didnt seem worth the price tag.
Kyle Crick is one piece going to the Pirates. Between him and Feliz, it looks like Huntington thinks there's a market deficiency for high-K guys with control issues; that, or they think they can fix them, turn them into closer material and peddle them for higher returns later.
