Too bad Edgar didn't play with peak Pedro, Schilling, Damon, Manny, and Varitek.

no one remembers what you do with two outs against the rays in june. quoting that as "clutch" is irrelevant and not what people are talking about.

he had a 1.372 ops across three world series, winning all of them. he had back to back walkoffs in possibly the most famous playoff series ever.

I think Papi, based on playing career (steroid user), is an absolute no brainer HOFer. I don't understand how one can think all those playoff heroics (who cares about close and late type stats) arent a huge factor, to a member of the 500 home run club. Add in that he is an icon of the ****ing Red Sox and its a no ****ing brainer! We're debating enshrinement in the museum, not ranking best players ever.

He did play with 3 people who are on the 40 man roster created from a pool of every living organism in history. At the same ****ing time. Imagine if the same could be said in basketball ot football.

When I was a kid I'd play Ken Griffey baseball on my (original) gameboy. I thought he was such a badass because he was the only one in the game who could throw 100mph, and when I saw the video of him exploding the bird, I convinced myself that because he was the only one throwing 100mph, he was also the only one capable of throwing hard enough to explode a bird, and the mark buerhle's of the world just weren't capable.

I should go back and post all the posts calling me a troll, then saying that I was pretty much right.

At least Ryan was able play for more than a couple months each season. imo.

Ryan played in less than 1/3rd of the games that Griffey did.

He was GOATish in the 90s, and obv steep decline due to injuries, but still amassing 630 dongs.

Which year during the 90s was he the best player? I haven't looked yet, but I'm going to guess 0 or some lame early 90s stuff.

You just proved my point. He wasn't GOATish. He was great, but he only had two seasons where you could even argue he was the best player in the game and three seasons where he was a 7 WAR player. He never scored a 10 WAR season. He was elite, but by calling him GOATish, you're putting him up there with Ruth/Bonds/Williams/Trout/etc and he just wasn't one of those guys.

97-98 MVP.

Point taken, GW.

He would have had to basically duplicate that decade of production to finish GOAT. 800 cuadrangulars and 20 Gold Gloves would be quite the career.

Btw, Frank Thomas is the early 90s AL MVP.

97 he was up there, but you must be having a laugh by mentioning 98.

Everyone in the game was **** except for Bonds from 1960-1992. imo. So realBighurt isn't claiming much by being the best early 90s gent.
