Somehow I don't recall Scherzer striking out 20 in a game in 2016.

Random Stuff.

Justin Upton (32) had a higher career WAR (b-ref) than both Edwin Encarnacion (37) and Nelson Cruz (39) entering the 2019 season, but is now behind both of them after the 2019 season.

Frank Thomas had two years where he lead the league in OPS, and a 3rd where he had a 1.061 OPS, in which he wasn't named to the All Star team.

He's the GOAT right-handed hitter for me.

His 91-97 line reads .330/.452/.604, 182 OPS+, 835 BB to 528 K.

Slam dunk first ballot HOF, that seems like credit. But yeah, only 5 All Star games seems criminal.

Additionally, even broken down with lower batting averages, he was over .900 OPS in each season from 03-05. I really miss watching him. I didn't start watching baseball until 1997, but I was filthy OBSESSED with him (as a ballplayer) as a kid.

Mlb.com article about each franchise's WAR leader of the last 50 years. Is it just me, or are the words about Longoria beyond ******ed? They got 51 WAR over 10 years, and spent 57 million on it.

Yeah Longoria was a huge bargain and an MVP candidate in his early seasons, he just didn't age well.

Worst season for them was 2.5 WAR. Rookie was 4.8, then a 7, and 8, and another 7.

He goes on to claim that Bench's 75.2 over Larkin's 70.4 is the closest race on the list. Well just look at the Griffey and Edgar numbers.

What are your thoughts on this Mr. Hurt? Best 1st baseman in Sox history, not Leitch. I still hate Konerko, Pierzynski, Ozzie, and Podsednik with a passion.

Quote:
If Thomas is No. 1 at first base, then Konerko really should be 1A instead of 2 because his impact was truly prolific over his 16 years on the South Side.
