I hope he does really well his defense and base running were insane not just his routes and speed but he also somehow has a pretty fantastic arm . We will see how he ages. Interesting player for sure

Nobody else cares that Eric Thames is expected to be a top 10 slugger in the big leagues this year?

I wouldn't believe it. He was dog**** when he was here a few years ago. Seemed to have the batspeed to hit for power, but also had 0 discipline and huge whiff percentage. He went to Korea and immediately became Babe Ruth, so I doubt a whole lot changed in his approach, just the fact that he's good enough to crush the equivalent of A or AA in a super-charged offensive environment.

In other news, Manny Ramirez signed with an independent league in Japan.

Does that reset his HOF vote?

I'm excited to see what he can do, but don't want to get my hopes too high before the games start either. I really liked the signing.

Agreed. There is a ton of variance in his outcomes and will be exciting to see what happens. He wasn't actually all that bad in the MLB before he left - solid pop, ok K%, but bad BB%, so if he improved a bit (in particular his patience) - he could be a pretty solid player. On the other hand, it could be that he's the same guy and puts up a ~.300 OBP again and has almost no value.

The fact that the recent Korean hitters have done mostly ok, gives me more hope that his Korean stats weren't a complete mirage and there will be marked improvement.

I could see Thames as Kris Davis with a few fewer dingers.

I met longtime 2p2 baseball poster iamawesomer (Graham Goldbeck) at the ABCA convention this weekend. He confirmed that Tom Tango is unfortunately not black.

That is all.

I'll be at the AZ Spring Training all of spring except when I am in Vegas. Not actually at the games daily but within the vicinity. Only have one game purchased so far.

I can't believe in the 3 years I lived in Las Vegas I never made it to Spring Training. Actually was on my way once, but some very minor disaster (the nature of which I can't recall, think it was very windy) had made the road impassable around the AZ border, so I turned around and never tried again. Sigh

I'm so ready for ST to begin! And the WBC! Basketball just doesn't give me my jollies like it used to!

I'll be there potentially around the same time.

I'm in the same boat. I have lived in Vegas for 3.5 years, and I'm literally dying here with this vacuum between college football and baseball. These next 2.75 months are gonna take forever. Pure torture. I know the solution is to play lots of poker but I'm lazy.
