His agent maybe, but you're crazy if you think they aren't signing the GOAT just because he used a loophole. Every fan in America would be screaming for him

They'd lose their antitrust exemption if it got that far

But it wouldn't, because they'd settle instantly after going to court was even mentioned

Bonds could have gone to court when he got blackballed. They were probably betting he couldn't be bothered. But Trout, it would be a thousand percent he'd win in court vs Bonds having some nonzero amount of lacking open and shutness

You could fool the legal system to some extent with 43-year old Bonds or whatever age he was, but you can't with Trout at this time

Just saw a video of Bro deadlifting 505 pounds. Don't know much about lifting but that sounds like a lot.

Pretty great for someone his size but not amazing considering he's a professional athlete

1. never a good thing when you trade for a guy who was shut down midseason for back issues
2. he can't throw a strike and doesn't fool enough people enough times to be able to live with that
3. average exit velocity as a starter was pretty terrible

obviously he's going to be helped out by the fact that the royals defense is massively superior to the mariners but if he's going to be near the top of the majors in walks/9 again it's not really gonna matter much. i suppose maybe the thinnest argument you can make is that he'll throw more strikes because he can trust the defense around him more which could in turn lead to lower walks and a better era but i don't know

maybe he won't cut it, but seems like he ran bad last season.

they also traded from their strength to shore up a weakness which seems like a good plan.

sure but it's hard to believe there weren't better options (for instance how much could sonny gray cost at this point, or any other Rays pitcher) and this severely underrates dyson. it's not AS bad obviously but it's similar to the miller trade even if you traded just inciarte

Just not sure how much you expect to get for 1 year of a speed defense guy who turns 33 next summer. I do like dyson and enjoyed watching him play and his balls of steel.

Dyson has had an unusual, sneakily long career. Was really surprised to see he has 48 career doubles.

The Mariners now have 4 centerfielders.

sure but then you don't trade him

you have a 3 WAR backup CF nobody's going to give fair value for and you have a 4-6 WAR cain in front of him who in all likelihood walks after this season who teams will trade for. you're not losing enough in the difference where trading cain and competing this season (assuming that's what they want to do) is mutually exclusive. i'll grant that a contending team isn't likely to give up a major league ready on opening day pitcher for cain but certainly you can get pieces that can be called up this season that have higher short-term potential than karns

Fangraphs has Eric Thames projecting as 7th in ISO, right between Crush Davis and Jurg Donaldson. Pretty sick, imo.

Doesn't KC have a crowded OF now? Seems like a good trade.

Cain/Gordon/Soler

And Orlando/Burns/Merrifield reserves

Also, speed doesn't age well

Similar to the Davis trade I think it is about fair value im not complaining really. Dyson is awesome but he is also completely unplayable vs lefties . Now if yost actually played him every single day v righties like he should i might be more perturbed but at least now I don't have to scream every time I see ****in Paulo Orlando starting v a righty . Plus i think there is still some upside with karns. He prob won't actually ever figure out how to limit walks at age 29 but you never know. A few years of cheap control for a back end starter is pretty nice . Granted though that any wins accumulated by him in like 2018 aren't particularly likely to really matter since there are like no scenarios where royals are competing after this year

Burns has never been great at defense like dyson and his 2014 (or 15 whatever year he put up 3 WAR) was almost certainly a fluke with BABIP luck but i have some hope that rusty Kuntz and the coaching staff can coach up his outfield defense and hopefully turn him into dyson lite

I've checked enough times for it to stick and be committed to memory, but Jarrod Dyson was a 3+ WAR player last year and I just can't even.

Bolded is completely untrue

.455 OBP vs LHP last year and a lower k rate vs lefties than righties. I know it's jack **** for a sample but it's large enough to show the idea you can't use him at allos fiction

Come up with any reasonable prop bet and I'll take it Re dyson v lefties

Career wrc+ v lefties is 65... Small sample size but uh that's cuz he is incapable of hitting them so doesn't play against them I mean Jesus your sample size is thirty at bats last year and you think that's reasonable for showing anything at all? Lol
