That's just one narrative.

Even avoiding sortbyWAR, I don't know how you can come up with argument that Ortiz had a better Red Sox career unless you're going entire by narrative.
I think narrative is an enormous part of the Rushmore thing.

Actually cant think who comes after Ted and Yaz. Pedro had a great peak but I don't think those 7 seasons qualify.

Absolutely disagree he's not on the Rushmore, regardless if four other guys played better baseball.
Pedro is def on there.

Only if you choose to make it so. You've ignored all the posts about Boggs' career thus far.

I have? I had stated that I had perused his career stats, and they were indeed sick.

Do you think that "Rushmores" can be done for every club just by taking the 4 highest WARs in franchise history? I think there's more to it than that, (this isn't based on anything other than what seems logical to me) and I believe that in 100 years, Papi will definitely be more recognizable/associated with the team than Boggs.

For some awful reason I'm feeling compelled to create a Rushmore for all the clubs!

This would be a great way to honor Boggs' memory. RIP.

I was wondering if the Rays/Dbacks would be more interesting than the Yankees. Yankees is tough to do.

Why Boggs tho? Hate that they retired his number.

If Archer gets traded in the next couple months is he even relevant to that franchise?

Carl Crawford has to replace one of those guys.

DBacks would be Gonzalez, Unit, Goldy, Schilling?

Dbacks:

Luis Gonzalez, Randy Johnson, Paul Goldschmidt, Brandon Webb

I don't think Curt Schilling played for them long enough, Matt Williams was average and he must have caused negative runs as a base coach, Steve Finley was average as well.

People already forget how good Brandon Webb was.

I am stupidly always thinking of Matt Williams and Mark Grace as great Dbacks because they have those stupid jumbo characters of Randy/Gonzalez/Williams/Grace. They are in the same vein as the sausages for Brewers and presidents for the Nationals.

That's where I arrived as well. Interesting that they don't have a starting pitcher that comes anywhere near. Who would be their number one? Whitey Ford?

Is this like HoF rules? Only one team can claim a player? Otherwise the Mariners and DBacks have to fight over who gets Unit

Mariners are Griffey, Ichiro, Edgar, and Buhner tho.

Interesting that Unit and Ichiro both wore #51 there.

And I would say he clearly belongs to the Dbacks.

But Curt Schilling has the narrative, right?

He went into HOF as Dback.

It really isn't close when you look at his numbers, peak, awards, and World Series. You know, the narrative stuff.

I don't know how to do the Dodgers:

Jackie (only gimme), Drysdale? (more steady than Koufax), Koufax? (peak + fame), Campanella? (low WAR), Kershaw?, Pee Wee Reese? (doesn't seem right), Duke Snider?

Of course the Dodgers traded away Pedro and Piazza, and let Beltre walk as soon as he finally delivered on his promise.

****ing Dodgers. I hate you Delino DeShields.

Which franchise has the best (worst?) Rushmore of former players that were great after leaving?
