Seems like a few people are conflating 'Paxton isn't a top 10 SP' with 'Paxton isn't good', one can be true without the other

Yeah, there's a lot of room between top 10 and a solid addition to the team that increases their WS equity. Paxton falls into it imo.

Paxton is a solid rotation piece. As long as you're not expecting peak Randy Johnson or something, he'll be fine.

Also: Rule 5 draft shows that drafting is a crapshoot ldo

Is that what he needs to be for this to be a good trade for the Yankees? Or is there a post that I missed somewhere? I'd put him comfortably in the 11-20 range, and that should more than justify the price the Yankees paid for him, especially given where they are on the win curve.

ETA- Yeah, I see it now after re-reading. I'd probably rather Paxton over Greinke and Morton over the next two, even if it's close, and would take Paxton over both and Verlander if contracts mattered.

Weird thing to tweet for somebody who hasn't tweeted in months and recovering from knee surgery, but it is more than likely just someone making a mistake on one of these newfangled computer machines.

So Machado cleared up his remarks about hustling. What he meant was that he doesn't "fake hustle." So, when you see him dogging it out of the batter's box, that is not "fake." He is really and sincerely is not trying. This, as opposed to people "fake" trying to run it out by giving max effort.

Glad that all got sorted out.

I'm sure he's pissed because he can't get past level 100 in Candy Crush or something.

Paxton is a very good pitcher and this trade was still dumb as **** for the Yankees. We’ve seen this high k, low walks, high fb% **** before. His peripherals translate to literally Michael Pineda’s final 2 seasons there. He’ll strike out a ton, he’ll walk relatively few, he’ll give up a ton of bombs and have an xfip 2 full runs below his era. Yankee fans and New York media will crucify him

Still bracing myself for the news madbum’s been traded. I know it’s for the best but

You'll be more disappointed when you find out MadBum is under 30 and considered used up.

Donaldson to Barves 1yr 23MM

Would have thought he'd join STL

He was arguably the best player in baseball 2 seasons ago, but that still seems high. Money aside, the Braves lineup will be stacked for the 6 weeks Donaldson is in there.

they planning on playing him primarily at 3B? not sure his body can handle that anymore

Braves signed Brian McCann too. I think that may total 7 weeks of playing time between the 2.

Love that the Donaldson deal is only 1 year. In 2019 there's no such thing as a bad 1 year deal. And even if he's slow coming back, we still have CAMARGO.

Also love that B-Mac is coming home. He's from here, even when he left he was always one of our guys. If he hits ~.210 again, that might be kinda rough, but I can live with it if he pops 20+ homers again.

Now we just need to trade any of our army of young pitching for Kluber to be the odds on NL favorite

Also remains to be seen what the plan is for right field.

Thanks for a great season, Markakis, but I need a cleanup hitter that can hit more than 14 homers

Dbacks pushing the chips all in which is great to see from a small market club. Goldy/Greinke in their prime so let's see how the chips fall next 3 years before the trade can even be judged...

Obviously dbacks offered same package and possibly more to Marlins and it wasn't enough so I don't think people ITT are understanding the value of young good SP available FOR TRADE right now. Did they give up a lot...yes they possibly did but that's what it took to keep pollock so I'm okay with it.

And let me know which other starter we could have got for that package? I'm sure the dbacks did their due diligence and Shelby Miller was best option without giving up AJ Polluck

Dbacks made a few trades with Braves. Touki and Arroyo for $ saved. The Upton trade.
