That’s how Harold Baines got in.

Yeah, bc Rivera or Halladay getting two percentage points more or less than other HOfers is way way worse than a bunch of old farts voting in their employees or drinking buddies from the good ole days

Pretty wild deal. He's 27 now.

The four-year contract is worth $43 million, but after that, the team can trigger a four-year, $66 million extension. If they decline, Kikuchi can either exercise a $13 million option or elect free agency.

The Yankees signed Tulo to a league minimum contract.

He always wore #2 for Jeets.

Clemens in before Bonds would be very appropriate 2019 stuff.

Neither are getting close this year, getting above 60% would be a step in the right direction. They are both trending very similar to last few years:

This is what trends look like for someone who is inching toward election:

Already have a Dbacks over 60.5 wins bet in the books for $50.

Made with a guy after I paid him for losing Diggs vs. Adams in fantasy football scoring.

Tracker is expecting ~412 votes this year, compared to 422 last year. Last year Bonds and Clemens missed out by about 75/70 votes respectively (238 actual vs. 317 needed for BB, 242 actual vs. 317 needed for RC), which means Bonds would need a net gain of ~70 votes, Clemens +~66. Tracker suggests that they're both +3 from returning voters, and both are +6 of a possible 7 on first-time voters with ~35% of ballots revealed.

I'd set the line at 61% or so. 268/412 would be 65% and net +30 votes, give or take, depending on who and how many voters from last year aren't returning. Traditionally, the non-revealed votes are of the anti-BB/RC crowd.

Who is more likelier to vote in Clemens and Bonds. The writers or the veterans committee? I don’t think they get in from their peers, and the writers may be their only shot.

I think they both get in via writers eventually.

if only there was some distinguishing feature between the two that might answer this question.

Voter just likes pitchers over hitters obviously.

oh there's actually an answer to the question

claims he would've also had Bonds if he could've selected 11.

Clemens got 4 more votes than Bonds did last year iirc. Three weren't publicly revealed.

Random thought, but who is the most underrated player of the last 20 years?

One name stands out for me. Here are some of his accomplishments and statistics:

Played 17 years in the majors, qualifying for the batting title in 10 of those years.

Made just 1 all-star team.

Lifetime batting average of just .249, with a single-season high of .268 in a qualifying year.

Never led the league in any offensive category except strike outs, once.

Hit 30+ HR once, and had 100+ RBI once. Never scored 100+ runs in any season.

Never finished in the top 10 in MVP voting in any year, and only received down-ballot votes in two seasons.

Doesn't sound like a very remarkable player, right? He has 47 WAR according to BR. Fangraphs likes him even more, at 51 WAR. That's not a Hall of Famer, but squarely a very good player that every contending team would have loved to have.

This player is:

Spoiler:
Mike Cameron. A less flashy and less good version of Andruw Jones, who was a plus defender in CF for a decade, and was an excellent base-runner and hit for power. Once hit 4 HR in a game in 2002, and came very close to a 5th.
