Bleachers >>>> Rooftops. Being on the rooftop you definitely feel like your not in the stadium. All you can eat/drink is nice, and the one's I have been at do a good job. Your basically paying $150-250 to sit in a skybox, but really far away from the action.

The lower rows in the 100 & 400 section & the double digit sections that are closest to the field are nice.

You should do something like Florida SP vs. Washington SP somehow, since this all started with you saying the Nats are decidedly better than the Marlins.

I dont think hes that good. You just said he is nowhere close to being good which is just stupid, and then provide no evidence to support the stupidity. Stop being annoying.

Funny article about striking out:

Quote:
The Marlins last season hit a franchise-record 208 home runs (third in the majors), making the offense appear to be all or nothing.

Because of that, the Marlins want to at least encourage certain hitters, including shortstop Hanley Ramirez (122 strikeouts with 33 homers) and outfielder Jeremy Hermida (138 strikeouts with 17 homers) to cut down their K totals.

All-Star second baseman Dan Uggla hit 32 home runs last year while leading the team with 171 strikeouts. But the Marlins don't necessarily want him to change his approach.

"Danny is going to strike out at second base, but you're going to get 30-plus home runs. That's a tradeoff,'' Beinfest said. "I think Hanley and Hermida can do a better job with strikeouts.
It's like they know Uggla sucks, and can't help but strike out 170 times. Yet they think since Hanley and Hermida have talent, they can effortlessly cut down their Ks. Well, I'm glad you brought it to their attention!

Have young, high K guys historically shown little ability to reduce their K rate as their careers progressed?

That's not the point. The article is lamenting the fact that tons of the Marlins were striking out a lot, and seemed to suggest that if only the players tried not to strike out, they'd score more runs. And they're ok with their second baseman striking out 170 times (because "they're going to get 30+ HRs"). But they don't want their SS striking out 120 times, even if he hits 30+ HRs.

ramirez is fast, so they must think that him not striking out as much = him putting the ball in play more = more times on base. i'm pretty sure that's not true, but whatever.

This is terrible news for my fantasy team. Swing for the fences Hanley! Don't let The Man hold you down!

Seems pretty ridic to say he's awful because he pitches under 100 innings lol. Also, isn't everyone here always saying how ERA is not the best stat?

Dude it's an offer. Either you man up or pussout. < 100 IP is a fine bet qualifier, and we already know what team he plays for and the ballpark he plays in, so yes ERA is fine.

Thanks for the advice. We decided to do bleachers but they sold out before we could buy them (was online half an hour before they went on sale...) Might try to buy from scalpers or might just say ****it.

Also I need to whine about this:
Twins sign Luis Ayala and to make room on the 40man roster waive Bobby Korecky. I don't think Ayala is even much better than Korecky and he is obv. more expensive. Basically just gave a cheap replacement (or slightly better) player away for free.

Oh, and they also kept Drew Butera on the 40man instead of Korecky. He is their 5th catcher on the 40 man roster and has a career minor league OPS of .625... all at AA and lower.

I would do the scalper thing, day of

bleachers at Wrigley are fun

I think a rooftop would be fun if you had a huge crew or have down the Wrigley thing before

Its not predictive and doesn't smooth out variations well. But in the end after a park and defensive adjustment. Its pretty much the only stat to tell if a pitcher is good or not. (Tim Wakefield career >> Javier Vazquez)

I assume this has no impact whatsoever on the Manny watch.

Anyone care to predict how long Manny will wait before agreeing to the Dodger's offer and giving up his little game of chicken?

We got tickets to the Friday game, just not the Saturday one. We'll see how it goes, probably just head to Wrigley and either buy from scalpers or chill at bars in the area for the game.
