I refuse to believe anything other than Maddon thought it was 1st and 2nd and not bases loaded. There's no way he's that dumb or eccentric.

Same stuff happened last week

Eta: Choi leads off the second due to CS, 45% reach base probability at 0-0
and now they revealed themselves as idiots just using limited samples of "he hits .200 swinging on 0-2 and .160 swinging on 0-1" nonsense

He was incredible in that role but I'm more and more convinced that he could have done anything the Mariners wanted and at an elite level. Okay, he probably wouldn't have been able to hit 40 HRs. Probably.

ETA: He's almost 50 and bringing that kind of heat. Damn.

"I thought by walking Seager, it would avoid the big blow," Maddon told reporters. "And just to stir up the group, quite frankly. It's not something you normally do. I thought by going up there and doing something like that, the team might respond to something like that."
This ****ing guy. He should have at least made up a story that he was high, or had money on the Rangers. Both would be much less embarrassing towards his legacy.

Hahha that's awesome- in full uniform.

I don't know about that Maybin was going on and on about how the great Aaron Hicks should lead off for the Yankees 5 different times and at one point compared him to Rickey Henderson (who had more steals in 12 different season than Hicks has in his entire career.)

Ichiro loves baseball as much as Rob Manfred hates it.

He’s possibly too intense. He played in some girls high school game in Japan and struck out 17 and beamed a few hitters.

Hopefully the Reds keep Hunter Greene on the SP path instead of the Aroldis one. Fun to see flamethrower starter.

Quote:
Greene threw an astounding 39 pitches 100 mph or faster -- most in a single game since pitch tracking began in 2008. The previous mark was 33 by New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom last June.

It's cool to see league partners actually talking about that this year. The Jays actually referenced it yesterday beyond just "Well they didn't agree with the zone yesterday!" They actually referenced the ump scorecard twitter account and showed examples and mentioned the umpires needing to be held accountable. I feel like previously, probably at the behest of the league, most would just kind of brush it off as part of the game or not talk about it at all.

Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez has been diagnosed with cancer and will be stepping away from the broadcast booth.

Martinez said in a statement released by Sportsnet that Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics would be his last for "a little while" as he begins weeks of cancer treatment.
Reading the comments section from this article, I was genuinely shocked that so many people actually think Buck is great in the booth and they weren't just being kind because of cancer culture. The guy sounds cliche comedic enactment of a drunkard.
