Does Vlad Jr. count as a one namer?

Unique names help a lot. Guys like Mookie, Xander or even Mallex work - and that’s just glancing as the Ms-Red Sox box score.

Was shocked to see Ms shred Sale today. Holy ****.

I take my daughter to a few LAD/LAA games per year. A couple of years ago the DBacks are in LA and Pollock makes a decent catch in center. My daughter (12yo at the time) says even though he's on the other team, she has to give him credit for a "great" catch. Later he makes another decent play and she thinks he's the next Willie Mays.

I told her he's now playing for the Dodgers and she's proud of her scouting.

Baseball went reasonably well yesterday. Kind of silly that it was done by 10pm, but whatever.

It is a little ridiculous that whenever I see a score change my immediate thought is, “who hit it?” Lol every hit is a HR, I guess some people enjoy that. I myself enjoyed the Mets/Nats game yesterday, 2 guys dealing.

I think the teams are just getting smarter. They are taking "analytics" to heart and no longer throwing huge money at aging veterans who performed well in the past but analytically aren't expected to return that same value in the future. Younger stars like Harper and Machado will get paid but 30+ guys aren't so much in demand unless they fill a specific need for a contender. It's no longer what have you done but what are you expected to do and whether a younger guy for much less can probably do whatever that is.

Really weird that all games were done by 10pm yesterday and no games start before 7pm today. WTF MLB give me baseball during the 3 days of the year I'm hyped to watch whatever is on.

I'm with you. I love a good pitchers duel, moving runners, stealing bases, etc... Trea Turner was unreal on the bases yesterday and deGrom was masterful to get out of that 3rd (?) inning

Yea exactly. Players who actually have a good chance of living up to their contracts are still getting paid. GMs have finally realized giving asinine long term contracts to old dudes past their prime is dumb. I don't feel one cent of sympathy because the Chris Davis' and Jacoby Elsbury's of the future world aren't going to get monster contracts off a couple good years.

Yeah teams aren't paying for what you did anymore, so the players' union needs to get free agency to start at a younger age if they ever want money again. The later free agency happens for a player, the less guaranteed dollars/years they're going to see. I feel like the union is going to get schooled in FA again though on the next CBA.

Of course this is all correct, but for the 100th time in this thread the owners getting such a big piece of the pie for the last couple of years and probably til 2021 is pissing off players and may lead to work stoppage. Regardless of how much the players are at fault for setting up the deal to begin with. Maybe having somebody who didn't even graduate from Arizona State shouldn't be head of the Players Union.

The players would garner more sympathy if while fighting for the owners to get a smaller piece of the pie, they also fought for organization employees to also get raises. The manager of ticket sales is lucky to pull in 40k a year. They make a TON and there is more than enough to go around.

Based on all the projections I've got the Padres as most underrated and Giants most overrated. Also think Red Sox are pretty overrated

Fangraphs has velo charts by start for each starter but can't find ones for the whole league
