Quintana had a 4.49 ERA with years of control left at the time of that midseason trade. Also all but a handful of teams are still at least in WC contention, doesn't hurt to shoot for the moon.

Also you answered your own question. They don't want to get rid of him unless the price is good.

If he gets a goatee or whatever it's called, and if he stays in the majors at first he could be the another real deal Clu Haywood.

They are running so hot, the playoff slots for the AL are going to be super tough and they are the worst of the lot in serious contention, they'll probably jump Oak or Tampa just due to getting to play KC/Detroit 10 times each.

Also Harold Baines just got elected to HoF he has to be the worst player in the last 75 years to get in right?

Obviously old news, but today is the day it was official and not maybe just a super long term prank.

Though it probably won't be the last awful player that gets in due to over-correcting the steroid era.

He had the right people on the small election committee and that's basically all there is to it.

The veterans committee needs to be scrapped. Between Morris tlast year and Baines this year they have proven themselves incompetent.

Guy had 2,800 hits, was good enough to play 22 years in the league. If they don’t strike twice in his career he has 3,000 hits. Sure he’s a compiler, do I think he’s a HOF? No, but I’m not gonna complain about it. I feel like he batting 1.000 against the Yankees when I was a kid, hated having to face him.

Mashup between him and the catcher from pt 2

Lots of chatter about Strawman coming home to NY. I would pass on this deal, but we need sp now and its not going to take much so they say. Would still prefer Old blue eye or Bumgarner over the little guy up north.

I saw a stat a few weeks ago that basically said that the Indians had to be the best team in baseball and we only had to be .500 for the rest of the way to win the division.

Not sure how the Indians are quite this hot, but I don't like it.

What are the numbers from when eddy was a kid though?

I didn't watch the ceremony, but hopefully Baines wasn't anything but proud of his accomplishments and happy to be there.

Yeah if Eddy was a kid in the early-mid 80s, Baines’ OPS was much higher vs Yankees than other opponents.

Save your anger for guys who you think should be in that aren’t and be happy for guys that get in. It’s a game, it’s not real life.

I remember those years, but it was more of a Mets town then. There were a few brawls that were more violent than a biker fight. Guys were really going at it, but the umps were just casually talking to fans up the first and third base lines. not their job to break it up

In Houston at the moment...probably watched Homer Bailey's last game as an MLB pitcher as he probably got DFA'd by the start of the 4th.
