Not sure the Yankees or Red Sox can climb out of this hole they've dug themselves to start the year. AL Beast should be between the Jays and Rays, maybe O's if they can keep the pace up.

Giancarlo is so bad. Lol at everyone who says that's a "bargain" contract

Somebody will be eating at least the final 2 years of Jimcarreys contract. It will make the Pujol contract going forward look good. At least pujol was good for a bit with the angels.

MrAdvantage, I posted in the offseason thread and sent you a pm with no reply, so I'm assuming we're not booked for Braves vs Nationals season wins

And not just because the Braves look terrible so far! I don't want to reverse-freeroll myself if this gets any worse

Nice to see Yelich lock up the MVP in March.

Going from banging Ariana Grande to banging Kate Beckinsale ain't bad either.

It's just awful
The guy is so bad. Cash got played so hard with another albatross contract of a guy who clogs up the lineup. Screamed about this the day it happened and Yeli was the guy I wanted. Better player, making no money and went for nothing

which says the stanton trade made sense because you are dumping salary but yelich is cheap as hell so that trade made no sense from either angle...

Right agree with that. But the idea that the Stanton contract is "cheap as hell" is ridiculous. The guy is terrible and can't put the ball in play. Massively exposed against good pitching like he was in the playoffs last year and will continue to be every year forward

This is also why I'm anti 10+ year contracts regardless of the status of the player with very few exceptions (Mike Trout being one of them).

Ah ok, I misread. My fault

I do remember there being some consensus that the Stanton trade was a good one for the Yankees though and they fleeced yeahJeet etc...

he's worth about his contract per year now and will be massively negative in the future. as a player he is certainly not terrible, probably 4 war

Argue about the contract and the trade, absolutely. But LFC is being ridiculous.

If you're the Yankees and were given the option to get out from under that contract right now, would you? For me it's an absolute no brainer.

Machado, Harper and OBV Trout all >>> Stanton and signed for similar value

One of them for sure. Just when the Yankees were getting fun again and have plenty of youth they cripple themselves with an albatross contract for 10 years

Albert pujols is getting paid 24m/yr to be worse than replacement, and has been for the last three years and still has 3 years to go. I know everything has to be either the best or worst thing ever or life becomes meaningless but maybe dial down the hyperbole.
