From Schoenfield, not sure how to post his tweet. Not really sure what else the Phils can do in trying to make a stout lineup. Maybe clean out the farm for Joey Callo.

Quote:
Bryce Harper is hitting .410/.515/.718 with RISP and .369/.455/.694 with runners on. He's hitting .163/.306/.295 with the bases empty. Small sample size ... except the same thing happened last year: .982 OPS with RISP, 1.030 with men on and .787 with bases empty

Also, Jarrod Parker randomly came to mind a bit ago. Bummer.

Dbacks gonna win 3 of 4 vs Brewers this weekend to move into a wildcard spot. Then go 6-1 vs Orioles and Marlins next week to probably move to the top wildcard. Why do they play a Friday-Monday series vs Miami?

Finally somebody with a brain. Don’t you just miss the old days where you put the ball in play and things happen? Not this whatever it’s called, swing for the fences eventually beat up on bad pitching, pad stats, get to the playoffs and oops, it’s shutout SZN. A guy like Jeter (I know “what about his WAR!!!), would always get a hit when the Yankees needed it most.

I was at the game vs the Mariners where Bernie ties it with a solo shot in the 8th and Jeter hit the walk off in the 9th. Make contact, get hits, score runs, win games, those were the days.

yes always!
jeter never had terrible playoff series (where his team usually won anyway)!
Jeetz also motivated the starting pitchers to give up one run in an entire playoff series vs the rangers who absolutely raked back then. go jeetz.

It was Game 4 2001 ALCS. Got him confused with Soriano.

Jeets career 0.02 WPA in the playoff. With a 1 meaning he would have added 1 win offensively. This doesn't even factor in the atrocious defense. Arod was a +1. Regular season Arod had a +10.6 dWar while Jeets had -8.6 dWAR. What a great team leader being selfish and keeping himself at SS.

So you wax poetic about the scourge of home runs and how manufacturing runs is how the game should be played and then to support this already disproven opinion you relate an anecdote about a game where the team that won scored literally ALL of their runs via the long ball?

Ok Eddy.

On a less idiotic note, today Chris Sale won his first home game since July 11 last year.

Don't ever disrespect the captain. Aren't you late for your meetup group that's having John Rocker as the guest speaker?

BTW that Eddy post is a perfect encapsulation of the Jeter legend. Eddy vividly remembers Jeter getting the clutch hit in that game because he always got the clutch hits when in reality it was someone else while Jeter went 0-4 with a K.

lol @ Jeter fans

Trout will have more career WAR by the end of this season than Jeter.

Jeter played 2747 games and had 3465 hits and 72.4 WAR
Trout has played 1155 games and has 1282 hits and 70.5 WAR
(42% of games, 37% of hits, 97% of WAR)

Which is actually unfair to Jeter because 72 WAR is insanely good
