To be fair +15 of that +22 is vs. the Marlins. They have been very inconsistent so far.

Run differential in baseball is mostly meaningless. Too many situations where it gets out of hand. Blowouts become bigger blowouts to save pens and let an ineffective guy wear one.

It's weird, it is that technicality. But every RBI list I ever saw had Aaron and Ruth both at 2200++ and no one else at 2000 (till A-Rod). Nobody else was ever over 2000 on the lists. Then a few years ago I think it was Cap Anson moved up over 2000. Then Ruth moved below 2000.

I like the old chart. It was pure because Ruth had 22 years and 2200 RBIs, and Aaron had 23 years and 2300 RBIs (3 short actually) ... pretty sick production by both. A lot of guys made runs at 2000, nobody got there until A-Rod. Now Pujols almost there, 20 years, 2000 RBIs, could do 21/2100 thru next year (but I doubt it, not sure he can earn his ABs any more).

So here's what i dont get. I never mention a streak and each day of the Reds play I stayed quiet, it won five in a row lately. Tonight I mentioned it knowing that would end it. I had them + 1.5 runs. They trail 2-1 after 8. Streak ends. I tempted it knowing mentioning it ends it.

Yeah man! Then JHey smashes a 3 run homer after they IBB Contreras to get to him.

While I understand the move despite his hot start (JHey hits a ton of grounders so makes a bunch of sense to have a force at first second and third), I can’t imagine there is many sweeter feelings in every day baseball than homering in a spot they’ve walked someone intentionally to get to you.

Per his wikipedia entry "Andrew McCutchen was eligible to play varsity baseball as an eighth grader at Fort Meade High School. He batted .591 that year. His average his senior season was .709, as he hit 16 home runs and 42 runs batted in (RBIs). During McCutchen's varsity career, he batted .474."

Would love to see his stats from his 9-11 grade years. I looked for them and found several sources which repeat those batting averages both by year and overall but none that mention him not being good at any point.
