You think he's better than no one and worse than nothing.

Being superharsh on one of the best players of all time.

Reading challenged, your suggested edit is the one that made it read that way.
I'm a huge Kareem fan. He's the best center I've seen play (too young to have watched Russell).

People always think the era they grew up in was the goat, the olds all think Kareem was goat, us late 20s/early 30s all think MJ was goat, and all the 13 year olds think Lebron is goat

Just watch actual clips from the old basketball sometimes. Late 80s NBA looks like college ball now. The whole games played below the rim, there's no athleticism, the defense is incredibly primitive and sloppy. It just doesn't compare in any way to the fantastically high level product on display today.
Another one that thinks all time great could of not get better with better training technique and knowledge if it was available to them in their timeline...
As if they were imbecile or handicaped athletes..

yeah newton and einstein sucks ass and they are nothing special since all the top 100 physicist in the world today knows everything they knew and much more ...
Same thing for fisher/morphy in chess or in any field you like.

When LeBron's given pretty much the exact same performance against the most elite athletes from anywhere across the globe that MJ gave against sloppy guys who didn't know move their feet or jump and didn't know what they were doing on defense or even have the ability to play decent defense under the laws of the game, obviously what LeBron's done is more impressive.
Yep, last years first ever unanimous MVP is an athletic God. MJ would struggle no doubt

Seriously, MJ would have been fine. Team defense has improved. I'm not even going to argue that individual defenders aren't better. But, you don't think he goes okay against spread floors (which he didn't have in his day), not many big guys to stop him at the basket, and that no one can hand-check him. Imagine it was Michael Jordan running at you James Harden style.

Please...

I doubt most 13 years could even define a root let alone numerical find one. Give the man a little credit, he's probably equal to a freshman STEM major

So now we are giving lebron credit for advances in advances stats that he took no part in doing? If lebron goes back 20 years do you really think he would be innovative enough to have his team spread the floor and tell his gm to surround him with three point shooters? NO!!!!!! He would have gone along with whatever the league was doing at the time, and he probably would have tried to develop his mid range game more or his productivity would have taken a massive drop off.

It's true. What information did Newton have access to that 13 year olds of today don't?

Not because you have access to stuff you know it.
Like a medical book is accessible but still i could not much with it if i did not learn it.
Not many 13 years old in the world that can do differential and integral calculus...
Newton freakn invented it !

The point is Newton's biggest thing was inventing an equation that worked out gravity and momentum.

Stuff you learn pretty early in life. Really simple physics.

I'm not saying people are smarter than Newton. Dude obviously was a smart cookie. But he only had so much knowledge from others before him and his instruments were telescopes, and pad and paper. These days people have access to super computers and billion dollar pieces of equipment. And 100 years from now they will talk about our equipment like it is a pad and paper.

But just because a high school student of today might know all the stuff Newton knew, doesn't mean he's a better scientist. Stick Newton in today's "game" and he'd be kicking some ass.

That's the argument re: players from the 80s/90s playing today. They would use today's technology and understanding of the game and be better players. It's obviously 20 years relative to Newton's 300 or so years, but the point is still relevant.

Also Newton wrote 100 books of how to change metals to gold. So, I could argue he knows less than most 13 year olds.

Yes, but a 13 year old would know not to stick a bunch of leaches on a patient or stick electrodes to the head of mentally ill people.

Doctors of yesteryear thought this worked well.
