ultimately, i think it's easier for mj to say, "ok, i'll just have to penetrate every time and rarely post," than for lebron to say, "ok, i'll post and operate off the ball like 900% (or some sh*t) more than i do now."

lol game has changed bro. jordan had plenty of floor spacers. in fact, lebron prob plays with the WOAT floor spacer in today's game in wade.

newsflash teams take a ton of 3s now since it's a good way to win games

my point originally - why the shooting was even brought up - was that lebron wouldn't have had the same success with his pg-style playing back in with jordan's supporting casts.

and i'm pretty sure i'm right.

Nah, they were primitive. Just barely learning that a 3-pointer even exists. Pop's Spurs are the smartest team in the history of basketball. They'd crush NY. I'd take Spurs -1.5 games for every dollar I could borrow.

Honestly, I have a ton of confidence in this Spurs team. I think they're easily one of the Top 10 teams of all-time, and probably Top 5. I really think they're going to beat the Heat just because they're so flawless on both ends. I'd take the Heat over the '93 Bulls in a heartbeat, but I still don't think they're good enough to beat Pop and the boys.

yeah, MJ didn't get a two handed shove by Reggie just before the game winner in one of those years. And that wasn't even a 'close' call. Reggie has said on numerous spots that it was definitely a foul.

I'm not complaining. MJ got plenty his way, but to say it was all one way is ridiculous.

That was a no call, thus it could be argued that no one "got" that call, because no call was made. With that said, I'm sure there are examples where a close call went against MJ, I just can't remember any.

Formed a judgment on you never really having more WIM bull**** in arguments to back up your claim when you said that Don Mattingly belongs in the HOF.

Glad to see you continue to not disappoint.

I remember this one, but it was a pointless game during the season. I'm posting it more for the lol reaction. The only time I remember MJ losing it on the court.

Now that you've posted it, I do remember seeing that call. I guess I blocked it out because lolregularseason.

I'll open it to anyone else (not as a challenge, or anything, I'm genuinely curious), can anyone post a close (and, hopefully, significant) call that went against MJ in the playoffs post first rang?

Were you saying something similar last year? Maybe up until game 3 of the WCF?

well, the assertion that lebron could not have done what mj did if lebron had replaced mj on those bulls teams is not getting the response i thought it would.

they locked that sh*t on realgm sooooper-quick.

i thought that was a big part of the argument, whether lebron could have won 6 rings with those bulls teams like mj did.

anywho, i'm done with this debate. i did my best. got a zillion responses but conversions are going to be near-impossible to get with bron looming large in HD right now.

on to better things, like watching the Finals and figuring out who will win. if anything this analysis of 3pt shooting has shown, is that this heat team is just like his cleveland teams, only with a real #2 wing player added to the mix and a varejao who bangs a little less but is a super-legit offensive option, a skilled big.

is that enough to beat the spurs? idk. going to other thread now..

Spurs woulda titled last year if they hadn't gotten ass-raped by the refs in Game 6. They'll make amends this time around.

Other thread is basically this same discussion...can't escape the debate as long as Lebron is in playoffs

in all this contemplation about old-school vs new etc., i just had a very random thought and didn't know where to post it (mods feel free to move it) - you know who anthony davis is?

john salley. i swear. salley was an athletic shot-blocker when he came into the league just like davis.

salley's block percentage was 4.9, 4.0, 3.0, and 5.1 from 1987-1990, his rookie year through the 2nd ring. davis this year was 5.1.

salley's offensive rating was lower by a few points as was his offensive win share. but this was because offenses back then were not the dribble penetration offenses of today where stickmen bigs like davis or salley could have their offense generated for them. it was dump it in, or give-it-to-the-big offenses, where bigs were offensive playmakers.

davis benefits heavily from the dribble penetration offenses, with more playing time (30-40% more), and more opportunities on offense for dunks mostly, and also some layups. davis usage was 21.8 to 14 for salley.

davis rebound percentage is higher, but he is the primary rebounder on his team (lol) battling for boards with al-fariq-aminu (a sf i believe), whereas salley was battling for boards with laimbeer, rodman, mahorn, edwards, etc.

goes to show you how much the game has changed.
