If this feels like déjà vu, that's because it is. For the second season in a row, the Panthers have the #1 overall pick. It's not often that SE members have the opportunity to start consecutive NFL draft threads as the honorary member whose team has the #1 overall pick.

Oh, ****. You mean we earned the #1 overall pick and don't actually have it?

What? You're saying we traded the #1 overall pick this year for the #1 overall pick last year plus gave up DJM, 1.09, 2.31 and a 2nd round pick next season? Well, surely that means we must have picked someone really good last year.

What's that? Between the last two draft classes, it's possible our guy is the 7th best QB taken in the first round? No ****ing way.

Well, at least we hired some new coaches again. I'm sure it'll work out better this time.

Time for the 10 burning questions of the first round.

1. Will the Bears find a way to fumble the bag, anyways? What will Caleb Williams be wearing and will his nail polish match his outfit?

2. Will NE select a QB, trade back, or take a generational WR with no one to throw the ball to him?

3. Will No.1 Chargers avoid taking a WR hoping that Justin Herbert can both throw and catch the ball?

4. Is Sean Payton actively tanking the Broncos organization even further or will he reach for a QB?

5. Will the Bills take another top 100 pass catcher in the first round or will they expect perennial MVP candidate Jawsh to do it all like Kermit?

6. Will Miami draft the fastest guy in combine history?

7. Will the Panthers wait until 33 to **** it up again or will they try to make another bad trade up?

8. Will the Jets do anything to protect their 40 year old conspiracy theorist politician?

9. Will the Cowboys do anything to improve their team or has Jerry simply stopped caring at this point?

10. What will the 49ers do now that they've finally paid off the Trey Lance trade?

Tune in Thursday at 8 pm eastern to find out.

Will the Lions extend their franchise-record streak of competent drafts to 2?

Spoiler:
Yes, yes they will. Feels weird man.

You could be a Panthers fan instead.

The more kneecaps bitten, the better. It's not often they're picking outside of the top 20 without a trade involved.

Lol, the Vikings were certainly one question I considered. Nice addition.

I realize there’s been no buzz about them but I have a sneaking suspicion the raiders are about to make a massive move up to 3 or 4

Adams hates it there, they’ve done exactly dick since moving to Vegas and they just hosted a Super Bowl played by the chefs and Niners

If anyone will make a last second monumental push up the order I really feel like it’s them and not minny

That didn't take long. Late round pick swap for MILF hunter. Still ridin'.

I haven’t seen a qb draft class this highly regarded since 2021. In fact I think 2021 had more hype and probably the same number of qbs in the 1st

And we all know how great that worked out for everyone

And both have a can’t miss generational QB at the top.

I think Maye is better than anyone behind Trevor from 2021.

JD is an older, more slowly developing Fields. Jayden was way more of a rusher in college too. And JD is more prepared and better than Lance, imo.

JJ has an arm and can make throws like MILF hunter, but at least JJ won a ship and started two years at a premier school.

Nix and Penix both with high profile seasons after transferring. I don’t think either is a first round QB, but I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one goes in the first. They are both Mac Jones-like.

What’s the evidence that Adams hates it there? I thought I read that they offered him a trade and he said no

there's a chance none of these guys are available when pick #18 comes around. that said, i'm hoping at least one is bc i think the FO would choose that player (or one of the players if more than one of these playes are still on the board)
quoted my post from 3/6

Latham is the only one of the four that will still be on the board at #18

Latham is very likely to be the Bungles first round selection at #18 (if CIN doesn't trade down)

None of them are great. Brooks is probably the best if you believe he'll come back fully from his ACL issue. Landing spots, just search by number of competent backs I guess and make minor adjustments based on blocking scheme

I think we will see Brad Holmes at his finest.

The new uniforms are among the best in the league, plus the hometown draft, and all the good juju, it should make for a wild night.

The top 10 rookie RBs in Underdog best ball ADP are below.

Trey Benson - 99.8
Jonathon Brooks - 108.6
Blake Corum - 130.9
Jaylen Wright - 137.4
MarShawn Lloyd - 148.5
Braelon Allen - 159.5
Audric Estime - 184.3
Bucky Irving - 188.3
Ray Davis - 194.7
Will Shipley - 200.5

As Sixfour said, Brooks is likely the best, and had he not torn his ACL in November, I think he'd be a late first/early to mid 2nd round pick. No telling where he will go now, but I'm guessing late round 2/early 3, and he may not be the first RB off the board.

Landing spot will be key, and right now, the absolute best available is Dallas.

I'd rank current top 5 landing spots for this season as

Dallas
Chargers
Raiders
Bengals
Vikings

The Browns, Panthers, Cardinals, and Giants have some appeal, but I don't know that any of these four will invest that much, at least for this season.

With that said, the NFL signaled what they thought of the rookie RBs in FA.

Singletary
Swift
Jacobs
Henry
Pollard
Saquon
Gibson
Ekeler
A Jones
Moss
Mixon

All moved teams and received pretty good contracts, relative to what they bring to the table currently.

Even the Chargers signed dusty Dobbins and Gus.

In Daniel Jeremiah's most recent top 150 rankings, he has the RBs as:

Lloyd - 56
Brooks - 57
Davis - 81
Corum - 90
Benson - 91
Shipley - 92
Wright - 95
Irving - 105
Isaac Guerendo - 122
Allen - 123
Blake Watson - 142
Sione Vaki - 149

Also three things:

As usual anyone posting picks before Goodell announces them needs a ban
Would be cool to see some mocks, I'll try and get one up later this evening but just for the first obv
Want to take McCarthy o5.5 if someone can find an accurate line, believe the under has floated between -120 and -160 but I don't have a book that has over/under lines like that. Only small stakes like my $20 to your however much is fair. Would also consider taking Odunze or Alt to be drafted before McCarthy if someone can find a line as an alternative

cross post from Offseason thread, although I think it's all the same of us fools in both threads

if you've got 15 mins the QB analysis done on the Ringer draft guide on the first 6 QBs is very interesting. For each of them there's a scouting report, a load of facts and stats and then some in depth charting of their accuracy, tendencies etc for each type of throw they make...windows, progressions, type of pressure etc etc

https://nfldraft.theringer.com/mock-...692.1708383999

Cliffs....Caleb the best QB by a mile.
