From Rotoworld:

According to the Dallas Morning News, Milton Bradley attempted to confront Royals television announcer Ryan Lefebvre in the press box following Wednesday's game due to what he believed were unfair comments made on the air.
As the Rangers' designated hitter, Bradley was able to watch the broadcast when he wasn't batting and took offense to a comparison Lefebrve made between him and Josh Hamilton. Manager Ron Washington and general manager Jon Daniels stopped Bradley before he got to Lefebvre, at which point Bradley returned to the clubhouse in tears. "All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had, that's it," Bradley said. "I love all you guys. I'm strong, but I'm not that strong."

Turned back in tears? Wow... is this guy a headcase or what.

I didn't see a Royals thread so I posted this in its own thread.

I was busy last night and just saw the end of the game on mute which was sweet. And there wasn't anything on this this morning on the Ticket which would cover this. Weird.

Either way, as long as Bradley stays healthy and continues to see fastballs due to Hamilton hitting next to him I am super happy.

"From what I remember, we were complimenting Josh Hamilton and how he's turned his life around and been accountable for his mistakes," Lefebvre said. "Frank [White] and I were just having a conversation that it's a shame it doesn't appear Milton Bradley is doing the same in his life."
Bradley returned downstairs to the clubhouse with Daniels and Washington immediately after they cut him off.
"He was upset," Daniels said. "Somebody that doesn't know him was effectively passing judgment on TV. The guy's been a tremendous teammate and a good guy for us and it's obvious he was hurt by those comments."

I know he's had problems in the past but since they were basically saying "He is a loser who doesnt get it and just refuses to get with the program" it would be helpful if he was like CURRENTLY screwing up and not just keeping his head down and producing.

The weird thing about this is that I had just been thinking about how Milton Bradely HAD turned it around, at least in that he's having a great year and that I haven't heard about him having any problems lately.

Which makes the announcer a douche imo.

Bradley needs serious help, hes clearly bi-polar or something close to it with a side of anger problems/over-aggression. No longer isolated incidents but a trend. Hes a terrific player and a bright guy but needs to seek professional help

I just don't see any reason to be feeling bad for Milton here. 1. He's got a pretty terrible track record. One that requires more than 4 months to get beyond. 2. He's a major league baseball player making lots of money, he's just got to deal with "mean" public comments about him. Comes with the territory. This whole story has gmab written all over it.

Milton is a great player. I just think he fit's into that category of "if he's on your team, love him... if not, hate him."

"This wasn't a Milton Bradley rip session," Lefebvre said. "It was just based on the pictures we've seen of him in the series walking from the dugout all the way to right field. Dropping his bat. Making gestures to the fans in right field and above the dugout, taunting them. He's the only person in baseball I know who does that kind of stuff."

As someone who listens to the Royals on radio all the time (though I didn't catch last nights games) I can say Lefebvre wouldn't just tear into someone. He is pretty soft spoken and doesn't take hard stances often. I'm certain he wasn't saying it in an angry tone or with serious malicious intent.

You mean like running back into the clubhouse to watch the game on TV when you know you aren't going to be up for a while? Yeah I bet Ortiz does that all the time.

ugh milton is more misunderstood than gary sheffield and marquis de sade combined. i really feel sorry for the guy and basically will defend him to the death. he has problems obv, but people mess with him because they know that they're going to get a rise out of him and it sucks.

clark yeah he does have a pretty terrible track record of getting mad at people who throw full coke bottles at him and call him a ******. what a jerk.

are you kidding? most DHs try to stay loose in the clubhouse - afaik most of them do not sit on the bench for the 2+ innings it takes between at bats.

Right. And storming up to press boxes because people hurt his feeewings?

gmab. Yeah, you're right, the guy is a model citizen, that's why he's been moved a gazillion times despite having talent.

Meh, the announcers come off looking worse than Bradley here. 2nd "incident" in a row where that is the case... (well, an ump last time).

Is he playing DH full time because he isn't healthy enough to play in the field or has lost a lot of athleticism due to his injuries/aging? I always though of him as a pretty good outfielder, like a + defender at a corner OF position or almost average in CF?

He also might have been the best free agent signing of the offseason. He is getting payed $5m/1 and is a better player than Torii Hunter who got $90m/5. No matter how many injury/headcase issues he has, that is a steal.

I think he's right to object, but if this literally had him in tears he's clearly got some emotional problems. If he's not medicated and seeing a therapist, he should be.

+1 for the announcer being a giant douche-ball here. fwiw, i'm perfectly fine w/athletes responding to audience taunts. also, the whole thing about him dropping his bat/walking...christ. they're professional athletes... if you're not actually a part of the team that the player in question is playing for, evaluating anything other than on paper production is a waste of time and is usually inappropriate (if you're a commentator that is)
