And the tv director continues to show frenchies falling off the back of the peleton rather than anything important

I really did think that finish with the dirt road would have suited Richie Porte on yesterday's stage. I hope he takes a win or bin it approach as he can't have that many competitive years left in him.

Think it was a positive sign that he could sit with the other GC guys til the end, he was one of the biggest questionmarks along with Uran of the potential top GC guys imo.

Very hyped for tomorrow's stage. Most likely Alaphilippe will attack and take the yellow imo, but stage will probably be won by someone from a break anyways. At least I'm hoping for a break to make it.

Yeah enjoyed that stage today. Bit of a scare for Thomas though.

Resting days are always a bleak reminder of the dark void my life will be when the tour is over.

Good thing there's only two of them!

It's usually Mondays. The next one is Monday as well.

Same thing for me. I found out exactly two minutes after they had arrived yesterday that it wasn't a rest day.

Not normally, but Monday was a holiday since Bastille Day was on Sunday, so they moved the rest day so more people could come watch.

The Netherlands and Belgium are doing great so far with three stage victories each.

Forgive me for going off-topic, but what's the story behind these avatars? They're pretty funny. I've seen similar avatars in other threads before.

User Cruizn63, who is Mexican (or American of Mexican descent I think) has been wearing this one since forever:

Spoiler:

For the 2014 World Cup I made myself this one when Cruizn and I were teaming up in a "World Cup Bad Poster Draft Thread":

Spoiler:

Somebody asked me if I could shop Messi's head onto Daffy's body and place it in front of an Argentinian flag.
So I did:

Spoiler:

People seemed to like the idea and asked me for other combos (I lost count, but I'd estimate I made around 60-80 of these over the years until now).
The rest, as they say, is history.

If you want one for yourself, let me know.

Damn, 60-80 is a lot! Thanks for the offer, but for now I'm happy with my sheep avatar.

I just watched a replay of the final kilometer of today's stage, because I arrived home late. It looks like I didn't miss anything interesting.

pretty poor for groenewegen not to win with the leadout he had

tomorrow has a slight chance of excitement. not a day to win the tour, but someone might lose it. i'll back movistar to do something really stupid, which is virtually like backing the sun to rise.

But then you did.

Anyway, going on vacation today, so I'm going to miss the entire Tour de France, which basically starts today. Have fun, boys.

Leadout was close to perfect but it was a little bit too short, and unfortunately for him that made Ewan's position perfect. Don't think anyone other than Ewan would've caught him there.

Super excited for today and the next couple of days, even though I think today will be more about who wins from the break than GC battle. I hope Movistar, Astana and FDJ try to work together to wear down Ineos, but it's unlikely, Fuglsang for example explicitly said a number of times his goal is the podium, not just to try to break GT.
