Some people spend thousands of hours roleplaying characters in WoW for no particular reason AND pay for the privilege to do it. It doesn't seem so far-fetched that there are some psychopaths out there who would just get off on pretending to be another person and seeing how badly they could fool people, just for the sport of it. On the Catfish tv show, the perpetrators are basically never getting anything tangible out of it.

Story actually makes a lot more sense if the stand-in chick did develop a real phone relationship with Te'o. We then don't need to explain why Tuiasosopo spent so much time on the hoax as that doesn't have to be the case anymore. He just kicked it off and then it took on a life of its own.

The girl is probably ugly as sin and couldn't get within 20 feet of a star college football player irl. It makes perfect sense to me that she'd want to live out this fantasy relationship. The only time I subpoenaed phone records, they were produced in a spread sheet on a disc.

It was possible to just cut and paste from that.

Of course, producing the disk would be more reliable; or at least a true copy with the non-relevant calls redacted.

Right-- were you still provided the records by the phone company? Or did someone else who has a vested interest in providing a certain set of information provide you a random spreadsheet instead?

If you download your call history on Verizon's website it is in a spreadsheet. Obv could easily be fake, just sayin its not too strange that an informal source would present it like that.

500+ hours of calls during football season would be hard to fake without a TON of effort. If they released the call records and the internets compared them to all his known whereabouts during that time (practice, games, interviews, flights, etc.) it would be interesting. Unless they went through all that trouble he's gonna get got. Given how easy it would be to get caught with one slip up, I'd be shocked if they out data out there that was faked. Risk/reward not close to worth it at this point and his handlers aren't dumb.

Why doesn't Manti just go out with the actual girl whose pictures Ronaiah stole Lennay's pictures from?
