According to the Associated Press, the Tuiasosopo family -- of which Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the person identified as the perpetrator of the Kekua hoax, is a member -- has hired an attorney and will convene this week to discuss how to address the story.

"We want to do it right," Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, Ronaiah's uncle, said. The AP noted Tuiasosopo never directly talked about the hoax or described his nephew as being involved in it.

"We're just a family of faith. The family is holding up well," Tuiasosopo said. "They're holding up the way I would expect a family to. This is a storm."

Why does it make sense for the trollers to kill of the character on the same day as his grandma died?(if suposedly Manti really didn't have a clue what was going on in reality)

OTOH the timing does make a perfect sense if he knew about it al along.

Maybe a better way to put it is that the timing doesn't not make sense, even if it isn't Manti. You know you're going to have to end it at some point, the grandma thing just pushed him closer to the spotlight, so you pull the trigger then. I just don't think the timing is terribly informative in either direction.

Like most of this, it's all so dumb that any specific action being dumb doesn't really mean much.

Read most of the thread, at one point it just got too epic to keep up with it, but I am riveted by this story and can't get enough of it. I'm sure most people are pretty much tired of this, but I want more! The jokes have been top-notch itt and on twitter, etc.

I wanted to believe he made the whole thing up for publicity and to gain fame, or the closet gay theory, but it looks more and more like he is just a gullible moron. He still comes out looking like a huge douche for milking the hell out of a dead girl, and probably used it to get sympathy-lays, so I guess I'll settle for that. F him tho, I am still holding out hope that there is something a tad more sinister going on (not overly-so obv) but still....

Right now a lot of little pieces are coming together in the MSM that were pretty much assumed correctly as early as a couple days after the story broke.

I think there is something more coming, and if the saga so far is any indication, it should be pretty epic.
