I do not understand why we're letting ESPN cover this story at all when clearly they're pro Notre Dame and have been Manti Te'os biggest fan all year. It's like when you find out your dad is cheating on you mom with your cleaning lady yet you still defined him.

Ok well this is just weirderer now. Those DM's are from Jan 16 2013. The Alabama @LennayKay was created the same day according to this article.

So this means the DM's were sent that day, then they deleted the account and then someone (trolling) created it within a few minutes/hours of the story breaking.

So it was legit owned by the hoaxer, then he deleted it after confessing, then someone quickly jumped in to make it again.

it takes 30 days for the account screename to get released , so whoever made the DM made the tweet .

- He thought she was real
- He did not give a crap about his fake girlfriend (who he thought was real)
- He made up/embellished a bunch of stuff in order to look like a swell guy (love of his life, on the phone all night, etc)

A lot of the stuff that's hard to believe (never seeing her, etc) can be explained by the fact that he didn't actually care.

Conclusion: he is both pretty dumb and pretty scummy, but moreso the latter, and not exactly unprecedented on either count.
