FWIW I question his actual popularity since online dating makes no sense for somebody who is A) In school and B) popular. That's a far more efficient + convenient dating network than anything the Internet may provide.
And even if he was an athlete with decent social standing, that pales in comparison to somebody who has the celebrity status of Te'o. He surely could have most anybody he wants in the ND student body, so why bother with silly online BS?
