this is one detail that i think has been overlooked, for a few reasons.

1. mantei obviously lied to his dad about lennay coming to hawaii. hard for him to explain this away as a catfishing.

2. why choose this as a spot to lie, though? as you mentioned it would be perfectly acceptable if she was never able to make the flight to hawaii. the best i could come up with is that mantei and lennays alleged meetings took place at vacation resorts a distance from his family home, and were actually a cover for rendezvous' with tuiasosopo.


this seems suspicious to me. how often do you have anyone else listening in on a phone call? however, if he were to orchestrate this as the endgame, he might have this "brother" call when he is around some teammates so they would overhear the conversation and corroborate his story.

a good point. in addition to not going to see her on her deathbed, he didn't make an attempt to attend the love of his life's funeral.

This was explained away by her saying she didn't want him to miss a game for her funeral. So he played, that brave soul.

you can tell he is lying in the sportscenter woja interview because all of his answers are too orderly, like "this happened, then this, then this, and her last words were I love you." it's all bs.

it just sounds like a lie - no genuine, sincere, heartfelt emotion, and all his answers sound canned, no random details like the truth would sound, his responses too orderly an sound pretty generic - and at one point when describing how he lost his grandmother and gf within 6 hours he actually is smiling the whole time.
